Chapter 14 mission

I woke up to the beeping of my alarm. After my embarrassing meltdown the day before I walked strait to my new room. I had to ask for directions here and there but I eventually found it. It was small, had a small closet full of gear my size, a weapons rack, a cot, fridge, and microwave. It was nothing special, kinda small if you ask me. I didn't bother changing and just fell on the cot and slept, but now I was regretting that. I woke up soar and with pains in my shoulders and neck. I rolled over turning off my alarm. I put my hair up in a ponytail not bothering to brush it. I knew what today was. The day of my first kill, the day of my assignment. I changed out of my gear and put my dirty clothes in the small hamper by the closet. As soon as I walked to the fridge for food a knock came at my door. I knew it was unlocked.
"Just come in!"
Halo walked in. He was in his own gear with his weapons all strapped on, mine were still hanging up.
"Morning Nate...."
He rubbed the back of his head, while I popped a hot pocket in the microwave. I leaned against the counter and looked at a nervous Halo.
"... Look Nate I am sorry about yesterday.... I shouldn't have said any of what I said.... it was..."
I held my hand up.
"Don't apologize, I am fine now, but don't do it again."
The microwaved beeped and I took out my pocket and placed it on the table and walked over and started strapping my weapons on. I pulled out the samurai sward that I got yesterday for the assignment. I carefully placed it on my back and turned around, grabbing my breakfast and walking out the door with Halo on my heals. I then stopped and looked at him.
"What?"
He put his hands up. I rolled my eyes.
"I don't know where we are going I am new here. You lead."
He smiled at his misunderstanding, and turned and showed me threw the maze of halls, till we came to a door.
When Halo opened the door my breath hitched in my throat. Every motor vehicle you could think of was in the room.
"God Halo, I thought you hiding the weapons was bad but this.... this is over the limit!"
He laughed and looked at me.
"Is their any flaw in you? I mean you are like a guys dream."
I smiled
"You better not be getting all wishy washy on me, Halo."
He shook his head and went over to a motorcycle and started her up. The rush of her engine made me smile and close my eyes and take a deep breath in. This is my new home. When I opened my eyes I caught Halo staring at me smiling. I ran over and jumped on the back and then we were flying threw the streets. The air rushed threw my hair while I held my arms around Halo's waist. I looked around the cities and civilizations around me as we went by, but all good times had to come to an end eventually. Halo was now pulling up to the house across from my target's. My adrenaline kicked in and my hands went sweaty from the nerves. I wanted to cry. I don't want to hurt a kid but I had to. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath then I opened them. I saw the world a different way. This is what I did for when my dad made me hunt animals like if they were people. He taught me to never show mercy and to always think like your target. Close in quick and finish it. Always have a plain past their plain Z and that was what I had. I looked at Halo and he nodded. I placed the map on the motorcycle's seat for me and Halo to see.
"So here is the plain. The kid will be at school, which doesn't end for another 15minutes. The parents will both be home in exactly 5 minutes, giving us 5 minutes to kill them and wait for the kid. They take 2 minutes to get inside from their car so once they exit the car we go to the door. They always leave it unlocked not worried about any dangers due to their pit bull as a guard. Once we see the door close I go in and wait to take their life while you go around back to make sure they don't bolt out the back. After they are dead we wait for the kid to get home. The boss will be here in a black van ready to take him exactly 3 minutes after he gets home."
Halo was smiling ear to ear. I crossed my arms.
"What are you smiling about?"
"Well I made a bet with my brother, he thinks you will fail. And right now I know you are so going to pass. Their is no flaw, their is a back up to every situation and you and I can get this done right on time no problems."
I smiled.
"That you are right on."
From their we waited, and like I said the parents pulled in. Halo I ran to our position. I opened the front door ready for the dog it came in and jumped at me and I quickly swiped at it stabbing it in the heart with my knife. It yelped and then the parents walked in. I put my hood up and sat at the opposite side. As soon as they saw me they froze.
"Who the hell are you?"
That was my qu. I got up evilly smiling and ran at them. The women screamed so I stabbed her first the I swung back killing the man. I ran to the back door unlocking it for Halo. He walked in and nodded approvingly.
"Well done kid, now we wait for the..."
I held my finger to my lips and nodded at the door. The kid walked in and we hid.
"Mom? Dad?"
He looked around and then walked down the hall, the parents were still in the kitchen which you had to go threw the dinning room to get to.
"Drak, boy come here, time to get food."
He called for the dog but he didn't come. I felt tears catching in my throat and that was when he walked in and saw his parents. I saw tears start to fall and I colden my face to show no emotion.
"Mommy? Daddy?"
His tears came faster and soon he was sobbing over his parents' bodies. That was when I stepped out of the shadows. He didn't hear me nor know I was their till I put the cloth to his face. It had sleeping powder. I heard him gag and I pulled it away. He looked back just in time to see me then he passes out. I looked down at my watch and on time I picked the boy up and gestured Halo to open the front door, he looked out to make sure no one was near or in sight and we carried the boy out to the van. I laid him down on the back and buckled him up. Scar cam out of the driver side.
"Very well done. Halo you may give me back the Microphone and camera."
I watched in amazement as Halo removed both and placed them in his hand. I looked at Halo with tears in my eyes.
"You had that on the whole time and didn't think to tell me?"
Before he could speak Scar out a hand up.
"He was under orders not to tell you anything."
I nodded in understanding. Then his brother came out of the car with money in his hand and handed it to Halo. I stared at them dumb founded.
"You two actually made a bet?"
They exchanged looks.
"Yes."
They said in unison. I shook my head disappointed.
"Dumbasses"
Then I grabbed Halos hand and dragged him to the bike. We both got on and halo started her up and we were heading back.
Once we were back and had parked the bike, Hunt was at the door waiting for us.
"Well Nate how was your first mission?"
I glared at him and push past him not answering him. These people are all ass wholes. I went back to my room, changed to work out clothes. I opened my door almost running into Halo.
"Wow! What the hell are you doing here?"
I grumbled and turned and shut my door and this time locking it and putting the key in my pocket.
"I was just coming to see how you were doing?"
I turned around and glared at him.
"Just peachy."
Then I walked down the hall. I memorized all the turns to the maze already because I didn't like anyone here other then Halo and he was busy enough as of. He was top assassin and I learned he literally had everything to do. He kept the place in line. He was like the manager to a business except this was an assassin organization. Great right.
"Halo, knowing Scar, that is not the only reason you are here so just spit it out."
Halo let out a sigh.
"Not much gets by you does it?"
"Stop avoiding the question."
"Fine, Scar wants you to go teach where the kid is at."
"Not going to happen."
"It is t a request, Nate. Don't worry I will be there as well. We are examples to fighting."
I groaned.
"What ever, but if I kick you ass, it is because I am angry and upset."
"You think you you can kick my ass?"
"I think when I am angry, and upset, yes."
     Halo and I are stuck In the ring in a full out war. He had me on the ground trying to keep me pinned down but he couldn't get a firm hold on my legs. I head butted him and then tried pinning him. He kicked me and I rolled of.
"Ok that is enough."
The instructor was trying to stop us but we were in the middle of a war. He high kicked me. I ducked and sweated his leg, but he jumped.
"I said enough!"
Finally we stopped. We turned and faced him and we saw the kids staring at us. I could tell they knew that we had to kill a family as well, but the one that caught my eye was the kid that I had to take. He wouldn't even look me in the eye. Not that I blame him. We both excited the ring and we heard the instructor yell partner up and then he was walking towards us.
"What is up with you two? I have never seen two fighters who went at each other's throats like that."
He was shaking his head.
"Then you should get someone that didn't just have to kill a family and come see the kid who was part of that family!"
He looked at me shocked. He then smacked me.
"Don't ever yell at me like that again."
Halo actually had to grab me and hold me back.
"Halo go fucking tame her. Remind her she is not a wild animal."
I laughed.
"I am what you people made me!"
He smacked me again and walked back to the group. I saw the kids all smirking at their leader and all smiling in admiration towards me. Halo had to haul me out.
Once we were out he slammed me into a wall.
"Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
I laughed.
"Don't you get it? I would rather be dead then here."
He loosened his grip then put his head down.
"I think we all want that, but you need to keep it together."
"Why should I?"
"Because we, you and I will make it out of here one day."
I smiled
"Sure if that is what you think."
I let my voice go to full in sarcasm. Halo didn't take it too well though. He let me go and then walked away. I didn't bother to follow. I turned my back to find Scar.
"I need you it is time to get you your uniform. And not just that black gear I mean you assassin robes and the name the world will know you as."
I stared at him shocked.
"You can't be serious."
"But I am. Have you heard of the Fire Phoenix?"
"Yeah who hasn't?"
"Well hun, that is your partner. You see we don't let the public know our names. No one other than those here know my name as Scar, most now me a the Black Alfa."
"Then what will I be?"
The boss smiled.
"Well the public is calling you the Green Venom Serpent."
I looked at him funny.
"Where in the hell did they get that from?"
He simply laughed.
"Said you struck fast and clean to be in seen."
"So...."
"So they made it a name that is all I know. In this place we keep a low profile on the outside world so no one can track us so we only get what is on us nothing more. Unless I have Raveen hack in to get us into something then we can get about anything. Also we need to get you your ear piece."
"Isn't that just something you put in you ear?"
"Not ours.... we have ours actually built into us so we can mentally turn it on and off when ever we want. It just takes time to get used to."
I gulped and Scar started pushing me towards a room. We walked in and in a glass case sat a robe. It was hunter green leather with a snake skin pattern with its threading. It had a black snake printed on the back and a crest on the shoulder. It had a black belt with holders and a hood that would easily hide my face. I walked over brushing my hand over the material.
"It is....amazing."
Scar chuckled.
"I would hope so our academy gets the best of the best so we expect that. Now we need to get you down so we can get that ear piece in."
I gulped but nodded any way. We walked into what looked like a surgery room. Nothing like the torture room o was in before. They had a man in a lab coat and a mask over his mouth and nose siting there cleaning his knives and stuff. I gulped again and Scar pushed me to the table. I laid down and the metal clasps came down on my limbs so I couldn't move. The man turned my head and he began. No medicine to numb me nothing to knock me out. Just pain of the surgery.
