(After the flight and at the pack house....)
Storm's POV
I picked Evie up after we set our luggage down and ran along to the infirmary, Alex close behind me. We burst in and I gravitated towards my sister's bed. Maddie's face was pale and sunken in. I frowned, very confused. Maddie would never pick up anything with silver on or in it unless she had too. She coughed and sank deeper into the pillows. I turned to Casey, the pack doctor.
"How much silver is coursing through her veins?" I asked. Casey picked up Maddie's chart and scanned over it briefly.
"4 grams worth," she said. I gasped and felt my heart pang. This was no accident. It only takes 5 grams to kill a werewolf. Somebody poisoned her. "Casey, this wasn't an accident. Maddie isn't stupid enough to pick up that much. Someone poisoned her." Casey's face paled. I had a good inkling who.
"A syringe was found next to Maddie after she collapsed. I picked it up carefully with gloves. I was just about to analyze the fingerprints when you came in," Casey said. I went to the computer and had a look at the results. Anger flooded through my veins. "Jeremiah Matthew Rogers" flashed at the top of the screen. The door opened again and Lydia burst through, followed by her son and a sulky Jeremiah.
"You. You did this," I growled in his face as I pointed at my dying sister. Lydia naturally ran to check the results. She came back sullen faced.
"Why, baby? Why would you do this?" she asked. I could hear the tears in her voice. I went towards Maddie's bed and picked up her hand, stroking it while I held it.
"You'll be okay, Madd. Just hold on," I whispered over and over again.
Her eyes opened and she smiled weakly at me.
"I don't know why the doofus did it, but I swear he muttered something while he injected me with the silver. Unfortunately, I didn't hear it," She said in a hoarse voice. Another shuddering cough racked her body and she looked even weaker than before. I had to do something. I knew what. I hadn't used it in years, but it was the only thing that would save her.
"Can I have some time alone with her, please?" I asked. Everyone nodded and cleared out, including Alex and Evie. I took a deep breath and pulled out Maddie's IV. I picked out a drop of water from a nearby glass and placed it at the wound. It seeped in and I guided it with my finger as it rushed through the veins, collecting all the silver. The feeling disgusted me, but I did it none the less. It came back out as a silver drop. I knew it contained one Gram of silver. I placed it in a test tube and repeated the process.
The color came back to Maddie's cheeks and her eyes began to sparkle with life.
"Thanks, sis. I was praying you hadn't forgotten," she said to me.
"I will never forget, Maddie," I whispered as she fell into a deep, natural sleep. I stopped her IV wound bleeding and called everyone back in.
"How did you-?" Casey asked before my dad cut her off. He smiled in relief.
"Thank the Moon Goddess and Storm," he said while giving me a hug. Alex didn't growl because he knew he was my father. I looked at Maddie's sleeping face. She looked better already.
I marched right up to Jeremiah and whacked him with a glass vase, which shattered upon impact.
"Lydia, I'm sorry, but that was for my sister," I said as I noticed her grimace of pain. She nodded and then she punched him.
"And you said you only loved me! I can see you still love Storm. Why can't you be happy with what you have?" she asked as she grabbed her son and ran out of the room. I heard a loud sob before the door slammed. Jeremiah turned to me.
"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?!?! STUPID BITCH!!!!" He screamed in my face. Thank the Moon Goddess my dad had put his hands over Evie's ears after Jeremiah said 'the.'
"WHAT THE HELL'S WRONG WITH ME?!?! WHO POISONED MY SISTER?!?! YOU!!! WHO REJECTED ME?!?! YOU!!! WHO JUST MADE THEIR SECOND CHANCE CRY?!?! YOU!!! SO STOP BLAMING ME FOR EVERYTHING THAT GOES ON YOU BASTARD. GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!! I WOULD KICK YOUR ASS, BUT FORTUNATELY FOR YOU, I CARE ABOUT LYDIA!!!" I screamed back.
Jeremiah left the room in a huff and my dad removed his hands from Evie's ears.
"Go Storm," He said. Evie and I laughed. So did Maddie. She had woken up from all the shouting. She got up out of bed and gave me a huge hug. "Thanks," she said. I hugged her back. I smiled pridefully.
"No problem, little sister. Just call me whenever a boy hurts you," I said. Everyone laughed except Evie, who looked perplexed.
I decided to stay for a couple of weeks to sort everything out. Jeremiah started to flirt with me in front of Alex, who was happy I gave Jeremiah the cold shoulder.

Wow. Jeremiah is officially a psychopath. Where's a gun when you need one? Anyway, thank you all for the votes I've been getting. And honestly, anyone know what's up with chapter five? I'm working on it so please don't fret, I'll figure it out eventually. And if anyone knows how to fix it, would you tell me?
