Storm's POV

We got settled and a knot began forming in the pit of my stomach. This was too easy, it was too quiet. Something, whatever it may be, is wrong. I confided my fears in Alex, he agreed and kept his eyes peeled. I sniffed the air. Rogues. I could smell Rogues. "Alex. Rogues." I said. There was a vault in one of the closets. Evie held Brandy in one arm and clung to Donovan's hand. "Mamá? Will you be back?" she asked me. I bent down and kissed all three of their foreheads. "Of course, sweetie. Don't let anyone in unless it's Mamá or Alex. Okay?" she nodded and I closed the door.

There were screams and snarls emanating from downstairs, Alex and I ran head on into the chaos. There were Rogues left, right, and center. I shifted into my very large Gold colored wolf. Alex was Silver. We could each take 2 Rogues at once so their numbers diminished quickly. Too late, I sensed a presence behind me and felt a prick in my neck. I blinked, completely unaffected, and turned to see a very surprised Rogue.

I killed him. He tried to drug me! Too soon, I slightly got tired and I realized most of the Rogues were aiming for me. Am I that popular? I asked Curio. Now is not the time for sarcastic comments, Storm. She snapped back. Sorry. Now, let's kick some Rogue ass! she growled in agreement and I fought with all my power.

Finally, all the Rogues were dead. I checked the damage and smelled a scent I knew too well. It was the scent of a dead man, who wasn't dead at all. Jeremiah stalked in front of me and sneered. I was more curious on how he'd found me. "Hello Storm. Miss me?" he asked cockily. I snarled. "No way." I replied. He came closer towards my already pissed off wolf and I bared my teeth.

"Now, where are my children? They need their daddy dearest." he said. Those words sickened me. Daddy dearest my ass! "No can do, Mr. Magoo. Donovan was actually quite eager to get away from you." I replied. He flew at me and I got my mouth around his neck. He managed to get out of my grip and we circled each other.

"Lies." he whispered, barely audible. For one moment, the mask of the insane, cocky man lifted and I saw a glance of the broken man behind it. Just as quickly as it had left, it was back up. "Fraid not." I answered. I launched myself at him and caught him around the throat. I crushed his windpipe and he trembled violently, then stopped. The second time around, he was dead.

I left his body with the others and shifted back, grabbing my undergarments and Alex's shirt while he followed suit, only just with a pair of shorts. We ran upstairs, heading toward our flat when the Alpha stepped in front of us. I promptly crashed into him with an 'Oof!' He looked down at me. "Where do you think you're going, she wolf? Is it to my bed?" he asked. I tried to bite him and Alex snarled ferociously at him. "Chris, you idiot! That's my mate!" he said. The Alpha, Chris the idiot, laughed.

"Nah man! She's mine!" My heart panged at the lie. I felt no attraction to this man. "Listen pal, bug off! I have something important to do and I prefer you keep your STD ridden body as far away from me as you can." I shoved him out of the way and continued up the stairs with a proud mate beside me and leaving a stunned Alpha behind.

I quickly punched in the code for the vault. There were Evie, Donovan, and Brandy. All unhurt, but reassured that I had kept my promise. I took Brandy from Evie and embraced both girls carefully, I didn't want to squash Brandy. Alex was hugging Donovan and soon we switched. We finally got around to unpacking our things as word of the Alpha's embarrassment spread.

I laid down in the king sized bed with Alex, snuggling. "Babe. I think it's about time we mated." I said. I saw the lustful gleam in his eye and what followed was definitely lustful. I'm glad these walls are soundproofed.

The next morning Alex and I were called up into the Alpha's office and the kids were with Alex's brother Tim. I stood casually near the wall and Alex bowed his head respectfully for a brief moment. "Now, lying mate of mine, why did you talk to me like that?" he asked. I rolled my eyes. The guy was delusional!! "Because, moron, I'm not your mate. I'm the beta female. Not the Alpha female." I said. Alex's hand intertwined with mine.

Chris laughed. I thought it sounded like a crazy man laughing. "You're funny! I totally got you good!" I felt my left hand clench and unclench into a fist. Finally, I marched up into Chris's face and slapped him as hard as I could. "WHAT KIND OF A MESSED UP FUCK ARE YOU? THAT ISN'T FUNNY AT ALL! IF YOU EVER TRY THAT ON ANYONE EVER AGAIN I WILL PERSONALLY TRACK YOU DOWN AND NEUTER YOU!!!" I bellowed.

He gulped and nodded weakly. No man would like to be neutered. I marched out of Chris's office with Alex in front of me. I would help bring this pack back to the top. Again, I saw that girl from earlier, trying to kill me with her facial expressions. I hurried away, a little unsettled, and could still feel her eyes in the back of my head.
