It was a quiet morning but the phone rang breaking the quiet and startling the brunette that was focused on the dishes in front of her. She dried her hands off on the fluffy, white towel that she kept on the kitchen counter, and grabbed her phone. "Hello?" She answered.

"Hey sweetheart, how are you doing?" The soft voice of a sweet lady said on the other end of the phone waiting patiently for her question to be answered.

"I am doing just fine thanks for asking. How about you mom?" She asked with kindness in her voice and a small smile on her face as she leaned back against the counter putting her both hands on top of it.

"I am.......um.......great! just fine.........so how's work going?" The woman had stuttered unsure if she should still tell her daughter. What she had planned to tell her in the first place. The real reason why she called.

"Mom what is wrong? You hardly ever stutter." Now instead of kindness it was fear and worry that that had invaded her voice as she pushed herself off of the black and white marble.

"No everything is fine." The older lady said trying to calm her daughter down.

"I know it is not now tell me now please, I'm worried." The girl really was worried about her mom but then again who wouldn't be worried?

"Well.....you see......"
