I slowly turned back to the demigods, my eyes wide. Percy opened his mouth to say something, but before he could, I turned and ran back to the edge of the dock.

I heard the others run towards me and scream my name. I ignored the yells and dove into the lake.

A natural instinct took over. I had never learned how to swim, but suddenly I knew, like I'd been in the water my entire life.

I sat at the bottom of the lake, the buoyant force on my body completely gone. I remembered my dream and inhaled slowly. I could breathe.

I looked up at the water's surface. I saw a blurry figure of Percy looking down into the water from the dock. He looked like he was about to jump in after me, but a hand held him back.

Percy sighed and hung his head. He nodded, and I watched as he and the others left the dock.

I inhaled deeply, letting the cool air and water fill my lungs. I closed my eyes and sat at the bottom of the lake for hours.

Finally, I stood up and swam to the surface.
As I emerged from the body of water, I began to glance around.

I spotted Nico and Will by the woods, sitting on a rock. I decided to sneak up behind them. I crept behind the rock and watched as they leaned in for a kiss. Nico's eyes flickered to the side, where I was crouching. I grinned like a maniac and gave him a small thumbs up. I winked, then turned to run.

I heard Nico growl behind me as I ran.

"KAITLYN FREAKING BEAUCHÊNE!!! I WILL MURDER YOU!!"

I threw my head back and laughed. I glanced behind me and saw that Nico had leapt up from the rock and began to chase me. He was blushing furiously, yet he wore a terrifying glare.

I skidded around a sharp corner and yelped. Nico had shadow traveled in front of me, and he held his sword at the ready. I cursed and chuckled as he slashed at me and I dodged his blade. One swing came dangerously close to me.

  I panicked.

Suddenly, I was enclosed in a cold and comforting darkness, and before I knew what was happening, I was standing in the shadow of the dining pavilion.

"WHAT THE FUCK?!" I screamed. I swiveled around, confused as hell. Nico and Will jogged up to me, looking as distraught as I felt.

"What the Hades just happened?!" I exclaimed.

"Uhmm, Kaitlyn? I think you just shadow traveled," Nico said reluctantly.

"I-I what?" I felt lightheaded. I swayed on my feet.

"Woah, there." Nico and Will caught me by my arms and held me steady. I took a shaky breath and put my hand up to my forehead.

"We need to take you to see Chiron. Now," Will demanded.

I nodded slightly, my hearing fuzzy. Will and Nico led me towards the Big House, still holding onto my arms for support.

I unsteadily made my way up the rickety wooden steps of the baby blue house with the help of my companions. The pair led me into the room Chiron was in and sat me down in a chair.

The centaur glanced up at me from his novel (Of course, I thought) and peered over his glasses. He set the book face-down on the table so his page would not be lost. Chiron looked up at me as he pushed his glasses up onto the bridge of his nose, and his ancient eyes bore into mine.
