"This is my phone and the keys to my apartment." I said handing off my things to Elena. "I don't need them."
Elena accepted them and looked at me.
"Amelia, I don't know why you're doing this and if you don't want to tell me, fine." She said. "You were always mother and father's favourite. You still are. I know they don't show it as often as they should, but they do. And Christian. I'm sure he has feelings for you as well. So before you run, ask yourself if it's really worth it. Just be sure that what you're doing is the right thing."
I sighed and shook my head. I stepped forward and engulfed my sister in a hug.
"I need to go Elena. You see what is shown to you. But trust me, there's way more than what meets the eye. Just remember that and that what you don't know will hurt you." I whispered to her before pulling away. I took her hand in mine and held it with both my hands. "Don't try to reach me or contact me in anyway. If I need to talk to you I'll send a letter to my apartment mailbox. Be sure that no one knows." I gave her a little smile before I kissed her forehead and let go of her hand. "Take care of yourself."
I stepped back and grabbed my suitcase. I held the handle and walked into the airport of London. I made sure to put my hood up and put my sunglasses on. I know it sounds absolutely ridiculous but I can't afford for someone to recognize me.
I checked in online and I had no bags to send in anyways so once I had my boarding pass from one of those kiosks I went straight to my terminal.
"You've just made it ma'am. You're the last to arrive. The plane will be taking off in 10 minutes." The attendant said as she checked my boarding pass. "Have a good flight."
"Thanks." I mumbled.
I dashed onto the ramp to the plane and went to the plane. The attendant there showed me my seat and I quickly sat down. I saw that there was an older woman looking out the window beside me.
I sighed and sat down after putting my suitcase in the overhead compartment.
"Your first time flying?" I heard her ask.
Keeping my hood low and head down, I mumbled a no.
"Well it's my first time." She said. "My son is always pestering me to come see him. So here I am! Flew all the way from America to here and now to Scotland. But I didn't tell him I was coming. I wanted to surprise him."
This lady seemed to be way to excited for something as simple as a plane ride. But who am I to judge her. It's amusing to see.
"Where are you travelling to?" She asked.
Should I tell her? I mean what have I got to lose? Only the fact that she'll know where the duchess of England is going. But she's from America. She most likely won't know who I am. And on the plus side, she'll stop talking to me.
"Edinburgh." I said in a low voice. There. Now she would stop talking to me.
"Exciting! We'll be going to the same place. Are you visiting family as well?" She asked.
Oh dear. Why did I think she'd stop talking to me. This lady just doesn't stop.
"Look. I know you must be a kind lady who loves to talk. And that is splendid. But I'd love it if you could just let me keep to myself for the duration of the flight. I'd really like to sleep." Great. Now I felt awful. In the midst of this charade of not letting anyone see me, I've upset a poor old woman who just wanted company. Usually I'm a sucker for this type of interaction with people older than me because I am a firm believer of learning from those older than you. But right now, in this moment, I just wasn't.
"Oh that's alright dear. You go to sleep. We'll talk later." She said sweetly.
Christ, how can someone be this nice? Someone else would've given a big bowl of attitude with a side of displease.
Nonetheless I sighed and rested back in my seat. Moments later I heard the captain announce the time for take off. With that, soon enough, I was in the air and on my way to my safe haven.

"We did not expect you to actually come princess! It's an honour Your Grace." The man curtsied.
When I landed, this man named James was there to receive me. He was surprised at the airport and I knew he'd do something that would give me away so I had to, with difficulty, push him into the car and shut the door. I then put away my bag in the trunk and grabbed the wheel. And that's how we got to the cabin. Him instructing me as I drove. I could tell he was intimidated though.
"Please don't do that again. And I deeply request that only you are to keep the knowledge of my presence here. Only you know I'm here and we shall keep it that way." I say curtly as I gestured to the door of the cabin. "Now would you please open this door."
"Yes, Your Grace." He mumbled and unlocked the door. "I deeply apologize for my behaviour at the airport. Though I had no idea you could drive."
Christian taught me. I wanted to say.
Once the door was open, I wheeled my suitcase in and took a moment to check out my surroundings.
It was a small cottage but in my eyes it didn't matter. It was very minimal and quaint. Along the with obvious–private. This is absolutely something I needed.
To my left was a small sitting area that contained everything a normal living room would, minus a television. Past the little sitting area were the stairs to go upstairs. To my right, as I walked further into the house, was a small kitchen with a little dining table to eat at. The kitchen also contained the doors to the back. I walked to the doors and opened it. The doors were sliding and made of clear glass.
"Your grandmother should be back soon. She just went out to get a few things." The man said. "She didn't mention that you were coming. Otherwise we would have prepared."
That's because she doesn't know.
