"Princess Amelia! Queen mother!" James' wife, Angela, greeted. "Welcome! It's an honour to have the two of you grace your presence in our home for dinner."

I smiled at he and followed her into their dining room with granny behind me. Their home was cozy. It was perfect for them. It wasn't extravagant or anything. It was enough.

"Please call me Amelia." I said.

"Angela! How many times have I told you to call me Aviana." Granny teased.

"Of course. I apologize Aviana." She smiled. "James, why don't you get the wine while I help Amelia and Aviana get seated."

James nodded and left to do his task while Angela showed us where to sit. She was about to pull out my chair when I abruptly stopped her.

"Oh goodness! No!" I said and shook my head. "Don't do that."

"I-I'm sorry." She pursed her lips. "Um..let's sit then."

"Angela, she's only my granddaughter. She doesn't bite." Granny winked at her as she took her seat beside me.

Angela let out a laugh as she sat into the chair across from me.

"So dear. How was your day?" Granny asked.

We were still waiting for James to come back with the wine. Granny had done a good job as clearing the air by engaging in a conversation with Angela. I, on the other hand, sat in my seat silent. I didn't want to converse but I also didn't want the poor girl to feel awkward and make a bad impression. All she was trying to do was make me feel welcome. So when she asked me what brought me here, I was quick to respond.

"I've never visited Scotland to explore, so I'm not familiar in what sights to see or what to do. Granny lives her but I don't expect her to show me the sights." I started. "Would you happen to have any suggestions?"

I could tell she was relieved that I had answered her question because her eyes lit up. She looked happy to see me engaging in a conversation.

"I'm so glad you asked that." She said. "Scotland's sights are amazing. I'm sure you've seen the palace and the castle along with the gardens but you probably haven't seen the candid points. For example there are many hiking points to see. I'm sure you'd love the views from there. Other than that, if you love shopping like I do, you'll love Victoria street."

"That sounds very exciting. I'm not much of a shopper but I will look into the candid points, as you put." I smiled. "I've never gone on a hike."

"You've never hiked?" She repeated. "Actually?"

I nodded.

"That's crazy. I've heard that Prince Christian is all about the outdoors. I'm sure he would have taken-"

"-I'm back." We heard. It was James with the wine. Thank god he was back. Prince Christian was not up for conversation. I didn't even know he liked the outdoors.

After dinner, granny and I decided it was time to take our leave. So, after bidding Angela and James goodbye, we went back to the cottage and got ready for bed.

"Settle in fine, my Lily?" She asked as she sat down on the side of my bed. She brought the duvet up to my chin and tucked me in. She then put her hand on my forehead, brushing my hair back.

I nodded feeling myself becoming sleepy.

"Sleep well." She whispered. I felt my eyes droop slowly and eventually felt a kiss on my forehead. "I'll see you in the morning."

I smiled as I dozed off. I had no idea what tomorrow would bring but whatever it was, I was ready for it.

The next morning, I woke up and quickly got dressed.

"Morning Granny!" I said as I walked into the kitchen

"Morning Granny!" I said as I walked into the kitchen.

"Oh good you're up!" She had a notepad in her hand with a pen in the other. She was walking around her kitchen opening cupboards whilst jotting notes.

"What are you doing?"

"We have no food, it seems." She said. "We have to go to the market."

"We?" I frowned.

"Yes darling." She continued to run around. "You need to step out into town. It'll be good for you. Plus we need to have breakfast. My friend at the local diner is waiting for us. We can eat and then grab some groceries before coming back."

"But granny. People will see me." I mumbled.

"Lily, this is a small town. There are no media people around." She explained dropped her notepad and pen on the counter. "No one cares about the royals here."

No one cares? Everyone cares back in London and France.

"This isn't London or France, my dear." She smiled. "They treat you with the same love and respect as they would any person. There is no upper class here."

I looked at her shocked by her words. Why hadn't I come here sooner?

"Now come on!" She grinned. "Grab your coat."

While walking through the town, I was less worried about someone recognizing me. But my paranoia got the best of me so I'd try to conceal my identity by wearing a big scarf and aviators. Granny also told the security following us to remain invisible. I was at ease when she did that as we didn't need any sort of attention to be directed towards us.

We made it to a local diner and wasted no time entering it. As soon as we walked in the greasy smell of oil mixed with the sweet smell of pancakes wafted my nose making my stomach growl.

"Aviana!" We were seated at a booth and one of the waitresses had approached our table as I looked at the menu. "Is this the guest you were telling us about?"

"Yes! This is my beautiful granddaughter." She said proudly.

"The one that just got married?" She asked.

"That's the one."

"Oh well honey, congratulations!" She said excitedly. "Well what can I get you? You grandmother gets her usual so I'll take your order first."

"Thank you." I said softly. Not knowing what to get I pursed my lips and shrugged at granny.

"What's good here?"

After taking our orders, the waitress left.

"Granny she knows it's me." I said worried.

"Lily, calm down." She frowned. "She only knows you because I talk about you."

I pursued my lips. Maybe this town really doesn't care.
