"Where's my wife, Henry?" I asked walking into the castle.

I've been swamped with work all day and I felt bad for leaving Amelia. This is all so new to her and although I wish I could be with her and help her adjust, my duties allow me otherwise.

We've been married for a month now and we haven't been able to go on our honeymoon. And though she may not be saying anything, I know she's probably upset about it. Any woman would be if their husband gave up time with them for work.

But today is a good day. It's a good day because I had all my work finished and had my meetings rescheduled. I had the plane ready on the tarmac ready to go for our destination. I was taking her to Bali and then Bora Bora. I had taken two months off and we would be in both places for a month.

Amelia had caught my eye ever since we first met. Though it may sound cliché, it almost felt like we had an instant connection. I knew she felt it too by the way she would be around me.

We first met in my castle. My family had invited the royal family of France to stay with us the week of the ball. The ball was an annual ball we have. I was in my study when I was told that the royal family of France had arrived. So as I was making my way to them, I passed by the gardens–which is where I saw her. My Amelia.

"Oh look at you." A lady mused as she played with one of my dogs. She was playing with Bruno. He was the youngest of the 3 dogs I had. "You're so tiny. Do you eat all your meals?"

Bruno being the little stunner he is, huffed and jumped around as she played with him.

I couldn't help the look of amusement on my face as I leaned against one of the pillars and crossed my arms over my chest, watching her. Who was she? She could've been an intruder for all I knew but something about just screamed otherwise.

She was dressed in a beautiful summer dress and had a pair of heels on. She had long brown hair that was loosely curled. She looked absolutely beautiful. Definitely not an intruder.

"You know. I think you should come back to France with me. I would make you strong and healthy like my dogs. I think you'd really like it there." Bruno seemed to love the idea as he kept wagging his tail and bouncing around.

All of a sudden, Bruno saw me and ran to me. I could help but chuckle as I bent down and ran my hands through his fur, petting him. "Hey buddy." I cooed as I picked him up and stood.

I looked over and saw the lady approaching me. I could see the look of confusion dawn on her flawless face. She didn't say a word but instead stood there, in front of me, keeping her eyes on Bruno.

"You know. I'd like to believe that Bruno loves it here." I mused waiting for her reaction.

She looked up at me. I saw a look of surprise on her face for a split second before it was covered with a blank look. She cleared her throat before she stood tall. "Well everyone is allowed to believe a lot of things. However they can't all be true, can they?"

It was now that I noticed her accent. It was French. Such beautiful French. She was French. She must be with the royal family. Was she a princess?

"Hasn't anyone every told you that staring is considered rude?" She said curtly and raised one of her perfect eyebrows.

"It's hardly staring. More so admiring beauty." I retorted back at her feeling the corners of my mouth raise.

I could see the look of surprise in her eyes. And if there's anything I've learned about her in the 5 minutes I've known her is that she conceals her emotions a lot on her face. But while they're concealed on her face, her eyes take over.

"Who are you?" She asked.

"Christian." I answered swiftly. "And who might you be?"

"Amelia." She said. Her name flew out of her mouth so sweetly.

"Amelia." I said testing her name. It was just as beautiful as her. Amelia.

"The duchess went to France yesterday morning after you left." Henry answered curtly.

"She what?" I said in confusion. Amelia went to France? How come? "And none of you thought to inform me of such."

"Y-your R-royal H-highness. P-pardon me. Her R-royal H-highness told m-me that you w-were i-informed." He stuttered.

"I was not!" I roared.

"What is all this commotion?" I heard a voice interrupt. I looked over and saw mother and father standing by the door of the sitting room. "What is going on, Christian?"

"Amelia went to France. Were you aware of this?" I asked straight to the point. I needed answers.

"Of course we were. We were the ones who suggested it." Father said. "Poor girl looked miserable in her days here with you never being around."

"You didn't think to tell me this?!" I yelled impatiently.

"Do not raise your voice, Christian." Mother snapped. "If you're so angry, then you best think twice next time before you leave your wife, whom you've been married to barely a month, to cope on her own. Not to mention the fact that you are never home. She has to sleep alone in an unknown place. She is constantly bombarded by people she doesn't know. How do you think she feels, Christian."

My mother's words made me realize something about myself. I was an even bigger idiot than I thought I was. In the stream of getting work done so I could spend time with her, I disregarded her completely. Mother was right. It's like I threw her in the deep end of the pool without teaching her how to swim.

"Miserable." I whispered.

"Exactly." Father added. "Sending her to France was the right thing to do."

I huffed and slumped down to the sofa that was behind me. I put my elbows on my knees and put my head in my hands. I'm such an idiot.

I felt the sofa dip on either side and felt two hands, one on each shoulder.

"Stop being a ninny and go bring her back. Go show her how much you care about her." Mother said. "She's good for you Christian. Don't let her go like this."

I pulled my head out of my hands and looked and my mother. I nodded and stood up ready to go to France.

"One more thing, Christian." I heard my Father say. I stopped and turned to face him. "Don't bother returning without her."
