inferiority complex- park kyung, eunha

Eunjin POV

Its been about a month since Taehyung bought me the ring, and although it seemed like this ring was a big deal, Taehyung seems to have gone to acting as if it were nothing. It's a little regretful, but I don't mind much. True to my promise though, every time I look at the ring, I think of Taehyung and can't help but smile. We've also been hanging out nearly everyday after school, except on the days when I work. But usually on those days, he comes and visits the cafe I work at and does his best to distract me anyways. In other words, we've gotten pretty close and I've gotten very used to having him around.

Once I arrive at school, I am not surprised to see Yoongi and Subin laughing on the benches outside. They've gotten very close this month too, and sit together on that bench outside every morning to just chat. Subin has even started talking and befriending me during class, knowing I am Yoongi's best friend. I wave and wink at them as usual, and walk inside to meet Hoseok, Jungkook, and Soyoung. Taehyung doesn't usually arrive until the last few minutes before the bell.

As I approach the table, I notice Jihye, a girl from in my year from a different class and the organizer of most school events, and Hoseok playfully arguing.

Hoseok notices me and interrupts Jihye while she's talking, much to her annoyance,"Good morning, baby!"

"Don't be weird, Hoseok!" Jihye turns to me and looks sympathetically as she whisper-yells," If he isn't paying you to be his friend and is holding you hostage, blink three tim-" Hoseok jumps and hugs me, shielding my ears and pushing me behind him and away from Jihye.

"YAH! I am NOT holding her hostage?? Eunjin IS my baby by will and loves me! Right, baby?"

I put on my most innocent expression and try to speak timidly," Well Mr. Hoseokie, I actually came to ask about why I haven't gotten my pay chec-"

"yOU'rE nOt eVEn pAyiNG hER, YOU'RE SICK HOSEOK!"

"YOU'RE A FILTHY LIAR EUNJIN, I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME I'M-" I laugh as they continue to argue until my stomach hurts and there are tears in my eyes. They get along so well that it would probably never be dull when they're together. As our laughter dies down, Jihye finally speaks up about why she came up to us in the first place.

"Actually, I came to ask you guys if any of you were interested in helping us prepare for the Starlight Dance Festival coming up in a few months?"

Taehyung arrives as she says this and takes his seat next to me,"Man I forgot all about that thing!"

"So are any of you interested?"

I look at her apologetically," Sorry, Jihye. I have to worry about getting a date now, and I'm not very good at multi-tasking or helping people in general."

"I would be your date, Eunjin, but you lied about your paycheck," Hoseok pouts. I blow a raspberry at him and turn to Jihye again.

"Sorry I wouldn't be able to help, Jihye!"

"Its fine, Eunjin. And you, Taehyung? Could you help?" Taehyung looks from me to Hoseok with unreadable expression, and I fully expect for him to reject Jihye's offer, but once again he surprises me.

He smiles charmingly,"Sure, Jihye! I'd love to help. Let's exchange numbers so you can message or call me whenever we have to work on the activities." I watch in shock as they exchange numbers, and an undefinable, unpleasant emotion bubbles in the pit of my stomach. The bell rings and releases us to class, and Taehyung gets up to walk with Jihye, talking about the plans for the dance. I turn to Hoseok and pout as I watch them walk away.
