Chapter IV

"Damien, you need to give her more time. The healer has done all she can and it's up to her now." Flare tried to knock sense into her brother. "I feel a strong connection but I don't understand...I shouldn't care because my soulmate is out there." Damien sighs. "She's not a werewolf." Flare reminds him. "What do I do?" Damien asking his sister for advice. "You decide that," Flare says walking away. "Flare!" Damien calls that makes Flare stop. "Thank you for everything." Damien thanks. Flare stops and nods her head before continuing to walk away. "You're so oblivious my brother. You're falling for her without knowing it, even before you had a first civilized conversation with her." Flare mutters under her breath which nobody heard. Damien checked on the sleeping girl in the coma for days without a sigh that she would awaken. "Alpha Damien, there's no telling that she'll wake up," Shadow told his friend and alpha. "Time...it takes time for all the work and pressure she'd carried over the years," Damien says. "You don't know that. She could be dying and we can't do anything but let her find her peace." Shadow responds to Damien. "Don't say she's dead because I can still feel her presence. How can you not, you're her brother?" Damien asks questioning Shadow. "I haven't seen her since she was younger than her age now." Shadow lowers his head as his wolf whimpers. "I didn't know...I don't know your past." Damien knowledges his mistake. "Kasey ran away from her family...she found me. Kasey was caught by the guards after a week and they took her back along with me. Kasey convinced her family to adopt me and that's how I got there," Shadow says not wanting to continue on but he reluctantly kept talking, "Kasey was kidnapped...I don't know what happened to her. Kasey isn't the girl that found me anymore...she's different but stronger than before." "I see." Damien nods his head understanding what Shadow was saying.

"Lady Serenity, you remember the masquerade ball was rescheduled due to war...the ball will be held in a year so everyone can recover from war." Michael reported to Serenity. "We need to scout out Nightfield. We need to know their plans." Serenity said starting to plan for a mission. "Does anyone know in and out of Nightfield?" Nathan asked. "Don't you and Eve know?" Michael asked. "You'd think we would but we don't." Eve said disappointed. "Should we bring more people into this mission?" Serenity asked the group, "is this worth our time? What is it that we really need from them?" "Information, weapons, knowledge, more plans for missions, and more." Michael lists out. "So how are we going to get that in time for the ball?" Serenity asked. "We take Kasey's first listed group to take the mission on their own. Kasey has guided them and then leaves the rest for them to decide." Eve responds. "We aren't Kasey though. Should we stick with Kasey's strategies?" Michael responds. "Everyone knows the skills, tactics, and techniques. Kasey always plans different each time. She's careful which strategy she uses so they can't identify or understand her thinking." Ryder explains as he holds out a book. "And this will help us how?" Nova asked finally speaking up. "Nice of you to join us." Michael snickered. "History of how all the leaders planned with notes of previous and current leaders." Ryder explained as Nathan grabs the book and attempts to open it. Serenity took the book from him to open the book. "People." Ryder snorted as he took the book away from Serenity to successful open the book. There was a secret to opening certain books owned by leaders. The book contain any information someone could ever ask for. The book contain all important detailed information about anything a leader needed to plan or be aware of. "Mostly these are Kasey notes." Ryder said but not letting them peek at the book. Ryder shuffled through the papers of written notes made by their Lady. "Why can't we look at the notes?" Nathan asked curiously. "Reasons like betrayal so that's why it's kept secret. Only certain people are able to open specific books." Ryder said as he closed the book shut. "No fair!" Nathan whined. A knock was heard on the door that was caused by Asher and Micah waiting at the door. "Get out." Serenity calmly motioned for everyone to exit the office except for Ryder. Serenity allowed Asher and Micah in the office to have a private discussion. "Anything new?" Ryder asked them as Micah took her dear and Asher kissed Serenity on the cheek before sitting down beside her. "Leave that out of discussion." Ryder snickered that Micah kicked his foot under the table. "Kasey isn't showing any signs of life from the healer. It's all up to Kasey to decide her fate." Micah told Serenity and Ryder. "Now what?" Ryder asked looking down under the table using his magic secretly which everyone else in the office didn't seem to notice. "Kasey is our focus now" Serenity declares. Collin bangs on the door loudly that Serenity walked up to unlock and open the door. "Collin, can't you see I'm busy with some important business to attend." Serenity cools down but really wanting to kick Collin away from the door. "My sister might have a solution for Kasey but knowing the alpha...he won't take her back here." Collin replies knowing his alpha. "You're part of Red Moon Pack?" Serenity says shocked. "You know word gets fast if not careful enough." Collin makes a good point across. "He doesn't own her. She belongs here not in a wolf pack. Kasey not even a werewolf." Serenity says hiding her anger. "A wolf bite, Serenity dear. Yes she can become one." Collin says in a 'duh' tone. "Explain more." Serenity pushes Collin into the meeting and closes the door behind him. "My sister told me that the blood she is now could fade but her magic stays and she has the abilities of another blood." Collin continues on. "What's this new 'hybrid' called?" Ryder asked interested in what Collin was saying. "Wolf demon because the wolf would have more control than the demon that Kasey could possibly lose her demon blood," Collin tells them, "according to my sister, Kasey is actually dying that's why she's not awake...if her demon wasn't killing her than she'd be awake around the same time as Micah woke up from her coma." "Kasey would still have a small spark of her demon magic in her but couldn't use it to her ability, correct?" Micah asked hoping for an answer. "Kasey's health would still be at risk depending if her body will let her heal itself." Collin says not fully answering Micah's question. "Unless she was a werewolf or wolf blood at birth but she could of been bitten by a demon, possibly cursed from a bite, strong potion, or powerful spell." Asher tries to help solve. "Ryder, you must know something." Micah looks at Ryder as she stares into his eyes to command him to confess. "I can't say anything..." Ryder looks down avoiding eye contact with everyone. "Ryder spill! Your knowledge could help Kasey." Serenity says. Ryder wanted to help his friend badly but something was holding him back. Collin glanced at Ryder and saw him nod his head in that short period of time to tell them everything. "Shadow knows everything like Ryder does. Kasey is a demon but not by birth because Ryder saved her life by turning her into a demon. Ryder cursed Kasey but she was a wolfblood by a bite." Collin explains. "We can get Ryder to remove the curse." Micah says clapping in hands together. "Not easy. A werewolf's bite needs to be stronger than the curse. This curse is obviously killing Kasey so the spell is strong. We need to find a werewolf that has a strong enough bite to break the curse but we only got one chance...or else the curse is permanent." Collin said as he was motioned by Ryder to keep going. "Common werewolves doesn't matter because nothing will be effective. True blood werewolves are the only kind to help restore Kasey and remove the curse." Collin says. "Why is Damien taking care of Kasey?" Serenity asked curiously that made the others wonder as well. "You didn't know? Damien and Kasey are childhood friends but nobody knew. Kasey wanted to run away so she come be with Damien and his pack." Collin reveals the secret of why their Lady ran away. "How come you knew all of this?" Ryder says feeling jealous of Collin knowing Kasey better than him. Ryder wanted to be the one that she was closest to beside Serenity. "I am her guard..." Collin said quickly covering his mouth before he revealed anymore information that he was order to keep a secret. "What about her memory loss?!?" Serenity asked feeling hurt that her best friend might of been lying to her the whole time she known her. "She did have memory loss but she does have some back...she puts on an act for a good reason in safety of people." Collin says knowing not to list anyone off but he knew she was protecting him from being exiled for going against the rules and helping her escape. "If you're so smart! How do we snap the sleeping Kasey out of her coma?" Ryder said feeling a bit jealousy and hatred towards Collin. "You should know. What happens in most fairy tales? My little sister loves those stories especially those happy endings." Collins smirks and laughs. Collin walks out of the office to go back to his work before he came to talk with everyone.
