The whole world seemed... Blah. The sky was grey, the sidewalk was grey, my outfit was grey, the clouds were grey. Everything just seemed grey grey GREY! I crossed my arms around my body, trying to conserve some of my warmth. My peacoat felt too thin and my skinny jeans allowed the wind to rip right through them, chilling my legs. Rain thundered down and a flash of lightning brilliantly lit up the sky, sending shivers down my spine. Finally, the small coffee house stood before me, like a warm beacon luring me in with the promise of a cappuccino and a warm, dry place.

I shoved open the creaky glass door and made my way up to the counter, water dripping off me and all the sweet smells mixing together, relaxing and warming me. "Hey Christine, your usual?" Asked Margo, her black nerdy glasses pushed down on her nose and her cocoa hair pulled back in a low side ponytail. I smiled and nodded, grateful when a few moments later she handed me my cappuccino and my cream cheese scone.

Yum.

I paid for them and slid into the booth next to my curly haired best friend and smiled up at him.

"Christine! Oh hey you're early," he said surprised looking me over with his emerald green eyes. I raised my eyebrows.

"Harry I just got here, if I'm early you're way earlier than me."

He shrugged in defeat and scooched away from me, "You're soaked! It's really pouring out there huh?"

"Yeah, I had to walk here, my car's in the shop."

He nodded and took a sip out of his steaming mug of coffee with creamer. Very simple, much like him.

Harry and I had met about two months ago when I had decided to begin taking voice lessons. I found Harry through an ad he had posted on a bulletin board at my school. He had graduated already and had been studying music at the local college, giving voice lessons for a little extra money. We had become fast friends and I had confined in him anything he asked, I just felt that way around him. I felt this... Longing whenever he watched me is or speak or just sit with his dazzling colored orbs.

He was extremely attractive, anyone could admit that. Aside from his amazing eyes there was that gorgeous curly hair, his big biceps and just the shape of his face just seemed to come together perfectly.

I wanted to be more than friends, but doubted he felt the same.

We discussed my lessons and the weather some more, he offered me a ride home when we finished up an I accepted.

An hour had passed and we still sat in the small black booth, our cups empty and the scone gone after Harry had decided to steal little nibbles every time I looked away. Finally, I decided to stand and gestured to him for us to leave. He slipped his strong arm around my waist, an action that took me by surprise. I didn't object if course and the thought that maybe he wanted to be more than friends as well crossed my mind as he escorted me out to his car and like a gentleman pulled open the passenger door for me.

I slid on in and waited patiently as Harry did the same and started up the car.

Then, shut it off.

I looked at him quizzically and he turned to look at me, his teeth grazing his lip as we made eye contact. "Christine... There's something I need to tell you," he announced.

My heart dropped down into my stomach, wondering what he had to say. But I willed myself to stay strong and simply nod. "What is it?"

"I just... Look I think you're an amazing and beautiful girl but... I don't want to be your teacher anymore."

I felt my eyes widen and my voice get caught in my throat. "Wha... But why?"

"Because I want to be more than that. I want to be more than your friend. What I'm tryin' to say is... Christine I like you, a lot. And I was thinking that maybe if you felt the same way we could... I don't know.." His voice had begun to tremble and quiet. "Will you be my girlfriend?" Harry finally whispered, his gaze once again meeting mine.

I smiled and bit my lip before slowly looking back at him. "Harry I would love to be your girlfriend," I responded, earning the biggest grin I'd ever seen.
