I think everybody deserves a shot. If you really want something bad enough, no one has the right to stand in your way.

Chapter 13: Game On
Ashley's POV
"I have to go to the washroom," I tell Adrian as soon as the second bell rings. "I'll walk myself to class."
He gives me a long stare before agreeing, "See you after class."
Just as soon as he disappears from my sight, I hightail it out of school and into the parking lot, looking around for Nate's car.
Spotting it near the exit, I walk towards it and slide inside when I open the door. I close the door and smile at Nathan as he starts the engine and drives out of the school premises.
"So where are we going?" I ask as I turn on the radio.
"It's a surprise." He says, looking at me for a moment and then back at the road.
Wondering what happened? How we got here? Let's take you back to what happened 2 days ago.
"So he's blackmailing you?"
"Y-yeah."
"Ashley, you idiot, you don't have to do that for me. I can take care of myself, you know that, right?"
"I do. But doesn't being your friend mean looking out for you?"
"Friend, huh?" He smirked as he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer till there was so space between us. "I thought we were more than that." He leaves a kiss on my forehead, lingering there for a moment before pulling away.
"Uh uh," I say, wagging my finger in front of my face, "You gotta work hard for that. I don't just date anybody, you know."
"Oh, trust me, I know." He leans in and my eyes close in response. He pecks my cheek and pulls away again, his hands still around me.
"You sure you wanna do that?"
"Get you to be mine? Hell yeah." His mouth lowers and he leaves a series of small wet kisses along my jaw, going further down to my neck.
"You love challenges, don't you?"
That got his attention. He stood up to his full height, his hazel orbs staring right at me, "What about it?"
"Here's one for you- Make me fall for you." I smirk at him, my hands on my hips.
"Challenge accepted," he smirks back at me. He lightly brushes his lips over mine, making me freeze as a shiver runs down my spine, "It's game on."
Before walking out, he turned to me and said, "I'm taking you out day after, after the second bell rings. Ditch Adrian and come find my car in the parking lot."
And that was it.
Today was the day that he was taking me for the long awaited date, not that I'd tell him that.
"Close your eyes," Nate tells me as soon as he stops the car.
"How am I supposed to walk then?" Already closing my eyes.
"You don't have to." I hear before my door opens and he picks me up in his arms, bridal style. "No peeking."
"Okay," I agree, feeling sort of giddy.
He places me down on the ground but his arm stays around the small of my back. "You can open them now."
I open my eyes to see that we were at a cliff, a beautiful one at that.
I walk towards the edge and peer down to see shimmering blue water all around.
"Come on," Nathan says and I turn around to see him taking off his shirt.
"What are you doing?" I stupidly ask him as he throws his shirt at me and proceeds to take off his jeans. I squeal and hold his shirt in front of my face, shielding myself from the view.
I feel hands grip the hem of my shirt and before I could even realise what was happening, he quickly pulled it off of me.
"Nathan!" I yell out and cover my stomach.
"Take off your jeans," he tells me as he grabs his shirt from my hands and turns around and places it next to a bag that I had failed to see before.
"W-why?"
"We're going cliff-diving." He tells me, making me shake my head in response.
"It's really deep."
"Nothing's gonna happen to you." He assures me and I slowly nod my head, still looking at the water. "Hey, it's okay."
I nod my head, "Let's do this."
Turns out that wasn't the only thing he had planned, we had lunch on the cliff afterwards followed by ice-cream and a movie at his place. All in all, it was probably the best date of my life. But like all good things, it came to an end.
When I had finally convinced Nathan to let me go back home on my own, I couldn't stop smiling. There was this huge cheshire grin on my face that just did not want to leave but it soon wiped out when I reached home.
The house lights were on and I was pretty sure I didn't leave them that way. Steadily making my way up the porch, I opened the door and quietly shut it behind myself.
I could hear a voice in the kitchen but I couldn't really make out what they were saying. All I caught was, "Not home.. whole day.. ditched.. will find out."
I peeped my head into the kitchen to see Adrian standing there with his phone in his hand and a glass in the other.
"Ashley," he greets when he sees me and hangs up his phone with a quick 'talk to you later'. "Where have you been the whole day? You ditched school and you weren't home."
"Oh, um, I-I was.. with, um, Chloe." I smattered, making up a lie on the spot because I couldn't let him know I was with Nathan.
He wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me close to him. All I actually want to do is to push him away but I let him continue whatever he was doing. "Ashley. You made me a promise, didn't you?"
Promise? What promise? I never promised him anything. "What promise?"
"That you wouldn't talk to Nathan or even be near him."
You ass, I never promised you that. You made me do it.
"What about it?" I say out loud.
"A little birdie told me you were with him today,"
Well, shit.
