There comes a day when you realise turning the page is the best feeling in the world, because you realise there's so much more to the book than the page you were stuck on.

Chapter 8: New York

Ashley's POV

It was the day of the presentation and Blaze and I were completely prepared. We had actually completed the whole project before the due time.

Shocking, right?

Right now, Blaze and I were sitting next to each other after presenting our project, anxiously waiting for the results. At least I was, he could care less about it.

Mr. McConnell was watching all the projects with a concentrated look in his eyes while writing something down vigorously in his notepad.

When everyone was done, he looked down in his notebook and went through everything that he had written.

And finally, the winner was announced.

"And the winner, who gets to go to New York for 2 days, is..." Mr. McConnell trailed off for some suspense, "Blaze and Ashley. Congratulations, you two."

Everyone turned to look at us. Some smiled, some looked at us with envy and some even glared.

'I am finally going to New York!'

I smiled hard.

"Don't tell me you've never been there before." Blaze turns to me as he raises his eyebrows.

"I haven't," I tell him sincerely. "Never been out of California."

"For real?" He asks.

"For real." I confirm and he slowly nods his head in understanding.

"Ashley, meet me here after school with your father," Mr. McConnell tells me, after which he turns to Blaze, "Just be here, Blaze."

"No prob, Sir." He says as I nod at Mr. McConnell and make my way to my next class.

"And that's about it." Mr. McConnell finished telling us everything that we needed to know about the trip.

It was a 3 day, 2 night trip with a hotel suite which was booked especially for us.

Blaze and I would go to New York via a flight which was in a few hours and then be picked up by the staff of the hotel we were staying in.

The Claridges Hotel, it was called.

Currently, I was walking down the sidewalk to Adrian's house to tell him my decision.

My decision to break-up with him.

I mean, it was pretty obvious that I wouldn't have stayed with him after he cheated on me. Why would I? He spoilt everything we had.

I rang the doorbell to his house and waited for him to open the door.

"Hey babe," he greets me as soon as he sees me and leans forward to give me a kiss on my cheek.
