Maya's pov

"Maya Penelope Hart, will you do me the honor and be my best friend through out life?" He asked as he opens the box showing me a necklace.

"Of course Huckleberry." I said and he smiles and stands up. I would love being more than that though, but he will never feel the same.

I turn around for him to put the necklace on. He slids it on carefully. I look at it reading what word the letters formed.

Short-stack of blonde beauty.

"Aww Hopalong. This is so cute." I smile at him. "I'm glad you liked it." He said taking my hand.

Lucas pov

I failed it. I was going to ask her out, but I failed. She would say no though. She will never like me like that. I guess I just have to move on.

I drove us home to my place, Maya sleeping next to me. I had already texted my parents about Maya's birthday, and they already knew about the Texas thing so.

I parked the car and helped a tired Maya inside. I'm pretty excited about her reaction to this.

"Surprise!" My parents shouted as soon as we walked inside.

"What's going on?" A confused cute Maya asked with a smile on her face.

"Lucas told us about you guys going to Texas, and we thought we had to celebrate your birthday while we are all here. " my dad said.

"Thank you guys it really means a lot, but don't take this wrong but it's a bit weird." Maya truthfully tells us.

"Why honey?" My mom askes her.

"I haven't celebrated my birthday since 3rd grade, and now am in high school. Last time it was just me and my mom and I got a peanut as a gift. Now I'm here at the most loving family in the world getting so much and I have nothing to give you as a 'thank you'." Maya tells with tears in her eyes.

"You being here with us Maya, is the best thank you we could get. We are happy you are letting us do this for you." I said kissing her cheek.

"I love you all." She said and hugged them all.

"And I love you the most." She said and kisses my nose.

My parents looking at us holding each other and saying: awww.

Lili is just holding her hand in front of her eyes. "Ewww, do that in your room instead." She said as we all laughed.

We sat down around the fireplace. Maya opening her presents, with some help from Lili.

I'm sitting next to Maya with my left arm around her. It feels so right.

My blonde beauty got a bunch of new clothes from my mom, 250 dollars from dad and a bracelet form Lili.

"I can take all of this. It most have cost you your entire pay from the last months." She stutters.

"No Maya, don't worry. Bruce Maxim, and I have good paying, thats just a tiny bit if this months pay." My mom said.

(Wow Mrs Friar... and idk what type of name Bruce Maxim is but they all call him either Bruce or Max.)

"Thank you so much. All of you." Maya said and looks at all of us.

"No wait, what about you Lucas? Aren't you gonna give your girl something?" My dad asks.

"Actually I-.." I started but Maya cut me off.

"I have gotten this beautiful necklace and tickets to Texas with him, that's more than enough. I'm super thankful for everything." Maya said and showed them the necklace.

"Maya that was before I knew you had birthday. So I fixed some more for you." I said and stood up.

"Wait here."

Maya's pov

Lucas walked away and out the door.

"I'm pretty excited for what he has gotten her." Mrs. Friar whispers to her husband.

"It something big for her. I can tell from his smile. He knows she will love it." Mr. Friar said back.

"I know what it is." Lili said and we all look at her.

Gosh this family is so lovely.

We all turn our heads to face the door when we heard it open.

"Be carefull now, her foot isn't healed yet." We hear Lucas say.

"Put your hands in front of Maya's eyes Lili!" Lucas shouts.

She does as her brother had told her.

I can hear him walking inside. I hear Mrs. Friar saying: "awwe" and "so cute."

Breathing. I can hear breathing. Lucas sits down besides me and Lili removes her hands.

My eyes lands right on a tiny little white and brownish maltese shih tzu dog.

"Omg Lucas!" I said over happy. "It's the dog I have talked about!!!"

He laughs and nobbes. He handed the dog over to me. The tiny little creature looking me in the eyes.

"What are you gonna name him?" Lili asks me.

"Archie." I answers without taking my eyes off him.

"Thank you Lucas. I love you." I say and look him in the eyes.

"I love you too Maya." He said back not taking his eyes of mine.

I turned my head away to not get lost agian and sat Archie down. Mr. Friar helped me up as I hugged them all.

"Come Archie! We'll go have some fun upstairs with Huckleberry." I said as Lucas picks me up.

He kisses his parents and sister goodnight and walks us upstairs with 'Arch' following us.

He throws me down on his bed and crawls up and lays next to me. I get up and sit down on his lap looking him in the eyes.

"Thanks for an amazing day Lucas." I tell him.

"Your welcome Maya. And you know what's the best? To see you so happy as you are right now." He said smiling.

We just stayed like this for a while, and he sat up with me still on his lap.

I took the edge of his t-shirt and ripped it of him. I kissed his bare chest before hugging him tight.

He laid me down, and we cuddled.

Gosh I love him...

Archie joined us too. "Sleep well beautiful, because tomorrow we three are going to Texas." He said.

"We'll skip school?" I asked with a smile.

"Yup." Lucas answers.

"This day just got even better!" I said smiling.

And with that we fell asleep.
