Chapter 16

When he said he wanted me to go back to New York with him I was speechless. I knew he probably only wanted me to go back because of Hazel.

"I-I don't know." I said looking away

"I need you two to be with me."

"We have a life here. We can't just leave."

"You can finish school in New York if that's what you're worried about."

"I really don't know, Kingston. I don't want to just pick up everything and move."

"It wasn't exactly an option. It was more of me just telling you."

I scoffed at him

"Unbelievable. I thought you were starting to warm up and now you're forcing me to go with you. As If you even cared about me in the first place."

"I want you too. If I didn't care about you I simply would have just taken her away from you."

"Well thank you that's extremely comforting." I said sarcastically

"Can I meet her?"

I hesitated with my answer.

"I suppose." I sighed "I was going back home anyways."

The tricky thing is my dad is always watching Hazel so that means he would meet my dad. Let's just say my dad will not be pleased to meet him

"Perfect." He said shifting gears into drive

I told him the address and he drove to the apartment.

Before he got out I stopped him

"Um so before we go in just know you're about to meet my dad."

"Well okay. I've never been very good with my father so we will see how this goes."

Not going to lie that made me nervous. I'd never seen him wing anything

We got outside and I unlocked the apartment.

"Dad?" I called out

"I'm coming. Hold on." He yelled back

He walked out and immediately set his eyes on Kingston

"And who is this?"

"This is Ki-"

"Kingston North." He said stepping in front of me and holding out his hand for him to shake

"Well nice to meet you." My dad said shaking his hand

"He's actually Hazel's father." I explained

"Oh."

Well this isn't awkward at all

"So I'm just going to leave now. She's taking a nap right now." He said heading towards the door

"Alright well thank you." I said as he left

"Well let's go see her shall we?" Kingston said

It made me happy that he wanted to be in her life. He wasn't just going to act like she never happened

I nodded and I walked down the hallway to her room. I quietly opened the door and peeked in the room. She was awake in her crib

We walked in and I picked her up. I looked at Kingston and he was staring at her in a trance

I smiled at him.

"You can hold her if you want." I said still smiling

He held out his hands and so I handed her to him. He still had that same look on his face as he held her

"She's beautiful." He said breaking his stare at her and looking at me

I nodded and smiled watching him hold her. He was so careful and gentle with her. She stared up at him the whole time and seemed fairly comfortable with him

It made my heart melt watching him. I had never seen him so infatuated with something

"I've decided I'll move in with you." I said
