The rest of the night was quite uneventful, to say the least, Kosti decided to go out and look around. Vlad had business to attend to and I was left to my own devices. Sitting in the living room I quickly got bored but didn't know what to do. The fire happily licking the wooden offering gave a warm glow to the room. I stood up and walked around it, truly looking at it for the first time since coming here. It was two rooms with a bar dividing them, you could look right through the bar into the other room. Vlad called it the study but it looked a lot more like a library full of very old texts and a big leather chair. The room I was in had a couple love seats, the hearth, and many different artifacts decorated the walls. It had a very medieval tone to it with the swords hanging on the walls with pictures of great battle scenes and some just pictures of nature. A few dressers were pushed against the walls some were holding a variety of different alcohol the others had smaller pieces of weaponry sitting behind a pane of glass like you'd see at a museum. I could tell that this room held pieces from his past, the place felt like a walk-through time. My footsteps echoed on the cold stone as I walked the length of the room more than once, eyeing one of the swords I looked around making sure I wasn't being watched and I reached for it. The steel had begun to rust in places but it was still incredibly sharp despite its age, I knew it had to be used with both hands just by the sheer size of the sword. The hilt was adorned with a silver dragon with the tail wrapping around the pommel that was in the shape of a cross. It was the most stunning sword I'd ever seen, I ran my finger down the middle of the blade stopping before I got to the tip, I didn't want to cut myself. Slowly I placed my hand on the hilt feeling the biting cold of the metal against my palm, sucking in a breath from the sudden cold I felt something inside of me change.
I closed my eyes and saw flashes, it was like I was flying above ground everything passing by me quickly. Every color in the rainbow flashed around me, and then it all stopped and darkness was around me. I could hear cannon fire and felt the explosion hit the ground near me, a flash as bright as day lit up my vision for a second before fading into the darkness of the night sky. It was cold and the wind had picked up around me whipping my hair around me stinging my face with every slash. I looked around me and saw a beautiful castle and then a man walking out from the gate towards what appeared to be a thousand or more armor clad men running towards the castle's opening. Small fires dotted the landscape giving me just enough light to watch the encounter with wide eyes. The smoke stung my eyes and burned my throat but still, I watched as the man slowly began to run at the army swelling as it got closer to the castle. He never stopped moving forward and the two parties clashed, he went right through them batting them aside like children. The further he got the more swords flashed in the moonlight casting a deathly halo upon the battlefield. He was fast, ducking, side stepping, swiping using discarded swords he began hacking at the mass before him and then he was gone. My eyes scanned the field and noticed a group of bats moving swiftly through the armored men and I gasped. This must have been when Vlad first used his newfound powers from the master vampire. The scene changed again to a cliff high up in the mountains, a single shaft of moonlight revealed the entrance to a cave that led deep into the mountain. I was curious so I walked inside and the smell of cold wet stone hit my senses and then the aftertaste of death caused me to choke. Walking deeper my shoes crunched on the layer of bones spread across the floor, I couldn't hear anything but the rush of blood in my head pounding away just like my heart. My breath became quicker as my pulse raced, this is just a dream, this is just a dream I kept telling myself hoping that it really was all just a terrible dream. A chuckle echoed from deeper inside the cave and I froze, it was enough to stop a heart with its icy tone.
"I wasn't expecting someone so soon" the voice whispered, it came from every angle causing me to spin around in fear.
"I can taste the fear on you, but I also smell something I recognize, something I gave to someone else a prince. Has he turned you too?" the voice was closer this time I could sense his inquisitive nature flowing off of him.
"Turned me? I am no demon of the night" I replied, a rush of courage entered me as I stood lifting my head to stare in front of me. The voice laughed, he was right behind me but I stood my ground not turning to look at him.
"You have his scent all over you, how is it you are not a demon like us?" he asked circling around to stand in front of me his hand reaching up to move my chin as he looked me over. I gulped, with the small amount of light shed into the cave I could just make out his form and the deep red eyes watching me.
"He told me about you, the master vampire that turned him into this creature. He said you had been locked away up here just waiting for someone to take the curse. Why, after all these years are you still here then, he is a vampire surely that released you from this place" the vampire smiled and walked towards me he pointed a bony finger at me the nail almost scraping my skin when I moved my head away from the touch. My eyes widened at the sight of him, old but not frail, with skin as white and pale as a corpse, the eyes a light blue that flashed red when he bared his fangs at me. This was the monster of Broken Tooth mountain, the legendary creature of the night that had also cursed Vlad to follow the same fate.
"My dear, I come here to be alone from the crowds, you came in just as I was leaving" he smiled slowly changing his appearance to a healthier looking man with a crisp blue suit, blonde hair slicked back the only thing that wasn't normal was the nails, those still remained to show that he couldn't completely change what he was. The transformation was fast, it was unnerving and I shook as he came up to me again grabbing my jaw in his hand.
"This will not be the last time we meet, I will make sure of that. You best be off and tell Vlad that the games have indeed just begun" and with that his body melted into a swirling mass of bats, some of them hitting me as they took to the sky. I was shaking, every part of me moving under its own spell I couldn't move and then I fell landing roughly amongst the pile of bones. My vision fading as I looked in front of me at the bones scattered leaving a trail deep into the cave. I then slipped into oblivion not knowing that what I had just witnessed was only the start of what I could do with my powers.
