It was almost pitch-black outside and it was my time of night, I stood up hiding the knife in the sleeve of my coat and turned to Marius. I looked him right in the eyes and saw a hint of fear spark in those dark brown eyes of his. I watched as he backed up into the walls of the Desponté mansion the dark red wood stain would hide most of what would happen tonight. I smiled showing my fangs as my eyes changed from its multitude of greens and browns to the blood red of the Vampire I had become. I then looked around the room at the rest of the group and then looked back to Marius.

"You all have no idea what life is like as a Vampire, many misconceptions and frankly I'm done with it, you want to be a vampire and spend your days hiding in the shadows? How about the days when the clouds take over and in the daylight, you can walk amongst the humans once again only to realize that you no longer have anything in common with them? How about the constant need for blood and the thirst never ceases to take control until you are no longer living as a vampire but as a slave to the thirst itself? No, life like this is no life at all, it's madness!" I snarled letting the beast inside take over every instinct I had. I let myself follow the animal instincts as Marius bolted to the door, I grabbed him and threw him into the wall opposite of the group and hunched over muscles tense and ready to jump at a second's notice. The group stunned at meeting a real vampire were rooted to their spots as their leader tried to run, Lucian was still crouched next to his wife not paying much attention to what was going on around him. I kept an eye on Marius and the group as I moved towards Lucian, I bent down and grabbed his shoulder pulling him to stand next to me.

"Look at you, all of you. Do you see yourselves living as this creature?" My eyes scanned the group seeing most drop their eyes when mine landed on them I scoffed.

"You couldn't even keep secrets, what makes you think that living in the shadows and hiding the biggest secret of all would suit you? Being a vampire, you can't just let the world know what you are, humans would try to kill you every second they got, and you only have the night on your side they can walk in the light and in the shadows. If anything, you are kept on a very tight leash by the confines of your own making, I will give you all a chance to leave before I make the choice for you and it won't be this" I yelled with my arms out at my sides, my eyes glowing the same dark red as the walls surrounding me. A few of the members scattered running as fast as their will could take them, I advanced on Marius as he had yet to make a move. My teeth exposed I snarled watching him decide what to do, I was only a few steps away muscles still tense and ready for anything.

"You... You are Vlad. The actual Vlad, Dracula the Impaler its actually you..." He whispered looking at me with wonder. I was stunned at his revelation this whole time he hadn't listened to anything I had said and was instead in his head scrapping together evidence to finally come up with who I was after the last few months. I nodded just standing waiting for him to move, I was itching to use the powers I had held at bay for many centuries now.

"Could you... umm... make me like you?" he asked quietly dropping the leader like appearance in a flash, what stood before me now was no leader but a shallow man with a dream of terrorizing cities and towns just for the enjoyment of being powerful. He looked at me with such a stare that I almost felt bad for him, he just wanted to be something more than he was but the thought of him asking me or any other Vampire to become this beast was more than I could bare. I shot forward, my fangs sinking into his throat I lifted him up pressing him hard against the wall, I pulled away to look at him. He was scared enough you could smell it coming off him in waves, I smiled, finally, he got a taste of his own medicine. Leaning forward I hissed "You still want to be a vampire Marius?" He nodded causing the wound to push more blood down his neck and body only to fall onto the carpet below. I smiled my fangs causing my mouth to twitch into a grin, moving back to look at him once more.

"I cannot give that to you, you are not worthy of this curse, most aren't" and it was then that Marius knew his fate. He struggled against my hold and I let him drop to the carpet in a heap. He scrambled away looking wildly around him till he caught sight of Lucian standing in the middle of the room looking down at his wife. He moved with more speed than I thought he was capable of and grabbed Lucian by the leg. I chuckled and walked towards him, the fear etched in his features made me want to gloat that I was still the monster I had to become to save my country and that would never die so long as I lived. Lucian looked up as if woken from a dream as I came closer to him, with a nod I slide the blade out from under my sleeve and handed it to him.

"You deserve to kill him Lucian, after all he has done to this family it is your right." Marius whimpered still holding onto Lucian's leg. I watched Lucian contemplate his next action, it was heartbreaking to watch the recognition come across his face, the sadness and then the determination that set into his features told me all that I needed to know. I reached forward and grabbed the knife plunging the blade deep into his chest holding him close to me as if we were lost friends hugging after meeting again. He slumped against me closing his eyes with a sigh, struggling with the sudden weight I staggered and then slowly lowered Lucian to the carpet next to his wife before looking down at Marius. His eyes were so wide you couldn't see the whites anymore, I pulled the blade from Lucian's chest the tip glistening with the fresh blood. I held it at my side just watching the blood drip, I looked from the blade to Marius.

"You have caused this family and me more than enough trouble," I said using the blade to point at Lucian and Victoria. Marius tried to stand but fell and instead started to use his hands and feet to back away from me in a manic attempt at a crab walk. I kicked his feet out from under him and he landed heavily on his back, I stood over him looking down into his eyes that had gotten so wide I thought they might just explode. I could only imagine the sight he saw, the red eyes, the fangs and the knife coming down to stop at his still bleeding throat. Snarling I couldn't help but let myself sink into the oblivion as the vampiric nature took hold, I can only remember his tears knowing he wouldn't get his dream and the metallic taste of his blood coating my mouth as I drank him dry.
