Chapter Ten

  Terrence Sr. P.O.V

Damn man, you look at this boys back and you would think we were back in slavery or the biblical days. What has this boy gone through? Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to have some tough love with these boys but first, we need to know some information.

Craig: Well sir, Rayan is living with Jacob and I are at my families house. Jacobs mom is an active doctor in the military so he lives with me and my family. Ray parents are those people who were very abusive toward him, calling him every curse word in the book, he still has nightmares about them.

Jacob: You know when people say, you must have dropped your child when he was a baby, that's what really happened to Ray his parents dropped him on hardwood floors and he has that permanent scar on his forehead. He has younger sibling that go through the same thing but the sad part is they are not living with us.

Craig: Yet, they're not living with us yet. When we went to the doctors Terreasa had Chres bring Ray with them to check on his eye, and when they came back Ray was given news that the doctor had connections where he can take his siblings away from the parent and make him their legal guardian. But since he's not 18 yet, my mom would be their guardian.

Jacob: We thought he had stopped cutting, and on his back that's where his parents would whip him and cut him. For his younger siblings they would get smacked across the face pulled by the hair and/or pinched really hard leaving a mark, but Ray had all of that and worse since he's the oldest.

TJ: How come he couldn't stay with his grandparents?

Craig: He use to, but they passed away both on his mom and dad side but he stayed with his moms mom.

Jacob: Out of everything his family, except his parents, love Ray and his siblings and even offered to adopt them so that they can live their lives. But to them they used the kids as a loophole to make money off of and even admitted it to being a revenge for ruining their youthful lives. But it's stupid because if they wanted to live their lives why have more kids when you could have stopped their? It was because they wanted to use them for personal gain in the system. We don't even know how but we kept trying to investigate on it until we get full proof on what's going on.

Dorian: Why are you guys doing all of that? You're just kids, you could have called the police social worker or someone in the law system.

Jacob: Who would they believe, some knuckle-headed kids or adults. We wanted to but they wouldn't take us seriously. We wanted to ask you but Chres thought it wouldn't work.

Marquise: Man this is some crazy shit. How did we go from whooping y'all asses to being Doctors/Law & Order Cali Division?

Chris: I don't even know cousin. But tell me, why was he so keen toward Terreasa?

Craig: He's in love with her

Everyone except Jacob and Craig: What The Fuck?

Chris: How the HELL was the shit he was pulling LOVE?

Craig: He feels like she would judge him and hurt him. The only love he got from a woman was his grandmothers and they are both gone. He has a protective shield but it's like Terreasa was the only one breaking his shield down.

Jacob: Terreasa is like the light to his darkness, he was so use to being put in the dark place he got comfortable. But when she came into the picture, he started to break free and he loved and hated it. He felt like if he gets too comfortable with her, she would put him in a vulnerable state and break him. He would beat himself up everyday for thinking those things yet he kept having his shield up not letting anyone hurt him again like his parents did. But out of all of that, he protects her without her even knowing.
