Chapter 1
It was a Friday and the bell had just sounded signalling for everyone to go to their next lesson.
I had just finished performing to my music class, a piano piece, composed and played by me and yet to be named.
It was like any other day, I helped to pack up the music stands and chairs before walking out the classroom and into the fresh morning air talking with my friends.
That was when I noticed the group of girls huddled around a small patch of fuzz in the middle of the concrete path no bigger than a 50 cent coin.
The group of girls were poking at the fuzz with books and pencils.
Then I saw the fuzz hop.
It was just a small little hop, and then another, and another.
Some girls laughed at it and the others screamed, I on the other hand bent down and put two fingers on the ground in front of it.
The mouse looked at my fingers for a while and then started to sniff at them, my friends held their breath then squealed when it started to try and nibble at my finger, unsuccessfully.
As if not being able to eat me was a sign of trust, he nimbly hopped onto my hand where I made a cup shape so he wouldn't fall.
I walked over to the garden hearing some girls exclaim things like, 'Ewww!', 'She actually touched a mouse!' and 'I can't believe it tried to bite her! And she let it!'
Though my attention was completely focused on the little mouse in front of me and his small black eyes seemed to be focused back on mine.
As I put him down in the garden, he didn't want to leave, so he sat there staring at me for a minute before slowly hopping off into the bushes.
'Good bye Hopper Fuzz, stay safe and have a good life.'
But of course that couldn't happen.
