Authors note
This is the book for older readers so if you do not deal well with talk of blood and stuff, I suggest you read the other version of the book, the story is the same just less realistic.
Chapter 2
Hopper was all I could think about for the next 20 minutes before recess, when I could go see him again.
I had told my best friend James about Hopper and being as into animals as he is, he was very eager to meet this new companion.
When the bell finally rang for recess, I practically bolted out the door with James in tow.
I was excited to see Hopper again and couldn't wait to see if he recognised me, James kept telling me he would be gone by now but deep down I knew he wouldn't leave me.
'He'll be there, I know he will.' i kept saying to myself.
When we got to the garden I couldn't see Hopper anywhere, but when I turned around I saw a small ball of fuzz again surrounded by a cluster of people.
'Quick James come on!' I grabbed James and ran across the ash felt towards the concrete path.
Hopper was once again being poked and prodded by pencils and sticks.
'Look out, its animal tamer!' some of the girls said.
Ignoring their taunts and teases I knelt down in front of Hopper and extended my two fingers again as Hopper quickly jumped into my hands.
The group suddenly became bored and left us alone with Hopper still terrified and huddled in my hands.
I stroked his fur in a calming rhythm as his breath got calmer, but then I really saw what the group had done to him.
