By the time I turned 16, my whole life was changed from before. Considering I had already gone through high school once, I was able to breeze through it again in less than 2 years. It was funny when the principal thought of me as a genius, when the truth was I'd already learn what they taught me before. It would have been embarrassing if I gone through high school the second time and not advance.
As expected, my parents did not take any notice when I graduated high school at 16. Because they were preoccupied with Rose and her life, they do not care what's going on in mine. Hell, they didn't even notice when I left their castle mansion and bought my own condo in the city. I had always lived alone in the big mansion but never felt it was home. In the place that I choose and bought on my own, I finally felt at home. It was like the chains around my heart broke and I was able to breathe.
"Have you decided which university to attend?"
"As long as I can do online courses, I don't care which university" I answered indifferently while looking at the amazing view from 100th floor - AKA, the Owner Floor.
"It's not good for you to isolate yourself from society" He replied just as nonchalantly while flipping through the documents. "And it's a waste for you to learn multiple languages and not use it"
I continue to look out at the city below in silence.
"Yale is a good school. Their linguistic department is acceptable"
Yale University is currently the top school for linguistic and language. It was one of the universities I am considering but had not sent an official reply.
"They don't have online courses"
I was 16 and to be attending college is already a big issue. If I attend an Ivy League school, it will bring unwanted attention to me. I was still in the middle of growth – both in life and business. Sudden media attention will do harm so until I'm at a normal age to attend college, I wanted to remain low-key.
"That could be arrange"
I rolled my eyes and turned around to look at the old man back profile. Standing in front of the Owner's desk was Victor Contra, his main secretary and right hand man. Like always, Vic had that teasing smile on his face while looking at me. Two years of knowing that man, I knew behind his serious secretary facade was a playful young man. Ignoring him, I leaned against the glass curtain wall.
"Oh, how so?"
"The dean owes me a favor"
"I bet he does" I smirked at his casual tone.
I didn't know when my relationship with my grandfather changed. After the investment I made showed profit, I immediately return the 10 million dollar with an additional 10 million for interest. When I wired his money to the same account he given me, the money was blocked during transaction. I did not want him to think that I did not keep my words so I called his secretary to settle the matter. To my surprise, the secretary had expected my call and told me that my grandfather is waiting for me in his office. This time I didn't have to wait weeks or months for an appointment.
Heading to his office, I had the check prepared. But when I handed it to him, he did not take it. Instead, he told me that I will have to work for him until 20 million debt was paid off. I was stunned before I became livid. I did not want to do what my parents wanted of me. What makes him think that I would do what he wanted? I didn't bother to argue with him and walked out. I knew someone who could hack into his bank and put the money in there. One way or another, I will return the old man his money.
As soon as I had his money returned, I ignored the phone calls from his secretary. It took a group of 4 men to "escort" me to my grandfather office. I had been annoyed because I was dragged away from my shopping spree.
"Is there something you need grandpa?" I forced out a smile even though I was irritated.
For the first time, the old man was looking at me with a grin. I didn't think the cold man knows how to smile. Clearly, he was amused with me, but I ignored it and asked why he had his men kidnapping his own granddaughter. When he laughed, I couldn't help but smile. Honestly, my grandfather had been the first person to show me any attention. No matter what, I was thankful that he had taken the risk to loan me money when he could have thrown me out. I just didn't like it that he is holding it against me now.
