chapter two

Ana had officially made it through her first day of high-school and she wasn't quite sure how she felt about the whole experience. Everything she'd watched on tv about high-school had basically described it as a hell hole, and she wasn't saying it wasn't a hole of hell, but she wasn't saying it was either. The people were decently nice and welcoming to her, she'd made a lot of new friends but a lot could change. She was going to remain optimistic though. And she was going to take advantage of this new opportunity because so far, it was the only good thing in her life.

With her ability to use her powers freely, restricted by her parents, there wasn't much else Ana could do that she could enjoy. And there were parts of high-school that she actually found were quite enjoyable. Like lunch, for example.

Ana had just arrived to the train stop when she spotted a certain Peter Parker standing a few feet away, his eyes glued to his phone. Walking over to him, she poked his arm to grab his attention, then smiled as his head shot up to look at her, his eyes wide. He relaxed though, once he realized that it was just Ana. But she didn't really understand why he was so skittish.

"Hey, are you waiting for this train, too?" She asked him, then shook her head and thought to herself, 'What a dumb question.' "Of course you are, I mean, why else would you be standing here?"

He chuckled, then nodded. "Yeah, I am." He looked past her at the loud sound of rumbling from the train as it came rolling towards them, coming to a stop with a sharp screech of it's brakes.

As people began stepping off the train and others began filing on, Ana and Peter quickly shuffled into the mix and got in. It was packed inside, and it was a bit difficult for them to find a place to stand with all the seats being taken. There was one handle left and it was between the two of them to take.

Peter gave Ana a nod and offered the handle for her to take. Ana smiled, a blush faintly reaching her cheeks. "Thanks." She said, Peter smiling back at her before he looked out the window. He didn't expect her to slide her hand through his arm to hook her arm around his as a way to secure him and make sure he had something to 'hold' onto since he'd given her the last handle. His eyes flickered over to look at her, but her eyes were somewhere else and she wasn't thinking much of the action. But to Peter, it was mountains.

"So how-how was your first day at Midtown?" He coughed out questioningly, in an attempt to break the awkward silence and make conversation. His neck felt hot from his incapability to speak a smooth sentence without stuttering or his voice breaking between words.

Turning back to him with their arms still linked together, Ana chuckled. "Interesting, I guess you could say. It's definitely nothing like what I thought it was going to be."
