chapter eight

There was a bombing in Vienna. Right where the United Nations meeting was located, where they were going to officiate the Sokovia Accords. Luckily, Natasha, who was the only one there that Ana knew was there, got out fine. The only death she was aware of, was the Wakandan King T'Chaka, who's death had been aired all over the news since it happened. Along with that, their number one suspect, James Buchanan Barnes, who Ana found out had a deep connection to Steve.

The whole situation seemed like it had gone full blown out of her grasp of understanding. There was so much that she didn't know or couldn't put together due to pieces of the puzzle being missing, that Ana could barely wrap her head around what exactly happened, and what this meant. She felt so in the dark about everything, no one could explain to her exactly what was going to happen, because it was unforeseeable.

And to make matters even worse, Ana and Wanda were trapped in the Avengers compound. If she had found herself thinking that just one week ago, she probably would've told herself to go back to sleep. Truth is, she and Wanda were not allowed to leave, orders of Tony Stark, who Ana was not becoming very fond of. They couldn't even leave to go to the grocery store, which Wanda attempted to do, but was withheld from doing so by Vision, who had become their honorary babysitter. Also, another thing Ana was not very fond of.

Of course, Ana hadn't expected to be allowed to go wherever she pleased in and out of the compound, but now that she knew it was absolutely prohibited for her to just walk out, it only made her want to leave more. She and Wanda were not volatile people, they both had worked hard to control their powers. Ana was able to work a little bit with Sam before he left, and she had managed to control her movement of objects without breaking them like she did with Mr. Piggles. She'd also mastered moving him, which he had been reluctant to let her do at first, but was thankful to see that she did it just fine.

Since there wasn't much else to do there, Ana and Wanda found themselves in the training room, where Wanda watched Ana practice using her powers. The young girl wanted to ask Wanda for help, but she also didn't want to push her into doing anything she wasn't ready to do. And Wanda was thankful for that, because inside she felt that if she couldn't contain a bomb with her powers, then she couldn't help someone else with theirs. But even she could see that Ana was struggling. The girl had no idea how far her powers could go, because she'd never considered it and she'd never tried. Wanda was open to give her suggestions though on what to practice, and Ana was open to take them.

"Have you ever tried lifting yourself up?" Wanda asked her, tilting her head at Ana questioningly. The girl was in the midst of holding the boxing dummy at least ten feet above the ground, practicing moving it across the room while keeping it's body upright.

Ana glanced back at the girl, and raised her brow. "Do you think I can do that?"

Wanda shrugged her shoulders. "Why not? If you can lift other people, why not be able to lift yourself? I've done it before, you should be able to, too."
