New York…

Lavender, lilac and wide ranges of herb spread a sweet scent across the golden brown painted room. Chloe was sitting in her armchair beside the fireplace, with a heavy book on her lap. The page looked so fragile in her hands. Gently, she flipped the pallid page. Her eyes scanned each Latin word of the thousand year’s grimoire quietly.

She licked her lips and pressed it together until it was just a bare thin line. Chloe was about to turn the page when she heard a knock at the door. At first she thought it was her mind playing tricks on her, but then there was another knock that caused her to jump. She hopped on her feet and walked toward the door.

With a ‘crack’ sound, the door swung open revealing a brunette girl. Her curly chocolate brown hair rested above her shoulder. She hid her eyes behind some black glasses. Chloe’s eyes widened, she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

“Impossible.” She muttered.

The uninvited visitor stepped inside, leaving Chloe dumbfounded beside the door. She gulped.”I didn’t invite you inside.”

Selena stopped looking around and took off her glasses. Her blue eyes were piercing Chloe.”I don’t have time waiting for you to invite me in.” She shrugged.

Chloe scanned the other witch; she didn’t even look one day older from the 1920’s photo that Leon showed her. It wasn’t that surprising. Selena was a great witch, the greatest witch Chloe had ever known.

“How did you find me? What do you want?” Chloe glared at her.

Selena’s laugh echoed around the room.”Oh my dear, I never lost sight of you.” Her lips curved up into a deadly smirk. She dragged a chair and sat on it. “Relax. I think we can talk freely with a cup of coffee.”

“No.” Chloe replied through her gritted teeth and crossed her arms over her chest.

Selena laughed.”So furious, aren’t we?”

“What do you want?” She repeated her question.

Selena could sense her anxious in her tone. She narrowed her eyes toward Chloe.”I want to know what is Leon doing in Decatur.”

“I think you already know, Selena.” Chloe replied to her look. She might be the great witch, but Chloe didn’t show any fear towards her. No she didn’t have to.

A slight disgust could be seen in Selena’s face.”Are you aware with what you’d just done?”

“Very much. He needed my help and I helped him.” Chloe shrugged.

“You helped a vampire.” Selena scorned.

“Don’t forget that he is the reason your sister is still alive!”

Selena scoffed and shook her head.”You don’t know anything.”

Chloe walked toward her, reducing the distance between them.”I know that you are selfish, isn’t it more than enough?

”They are our enemies!”

“Not Leon.”

Selena groaned, the sky roared in response.

“So that’s it? If you’re already finished you can go now.” Chloe said.

Selena didn’t say anything but it was obvious on her face that she was really annoyed.”Yeah, I guess.” She stood up and walked toward the door. Chloe followed her. “But I have something else to tell you, Chloe.” She turned back to face the young witch.

Chloe didn’t respond.

“Sending him to Decatur was a big mistake. You have to get him out of there soon.” Selena said seriously.

Chloe frowned. There was no way on Earth she would believe Selena.”Aha. Since when do you care?”

“I don’t.” She replied flatly.”My only concern is my sister, and I don’t want anything happening to her. Don’t make me handle this on my own, Chloe.” Selena walked out from the house.

Chloe couldn’t say anything. It was too much for her to digest. Selena disappeared behind the hawthorn tree, leaving an eerie red shade in New York’s sky.
