Decatur, Georgia…
The evening went out perfectly. Leon had never thought he would get such a positive response from Talia. A tiny hope had grown up inside him.
“So for how long will you stay in Decatur?” Talia asked as they walked through the empty roads.
“I haven’t planned about my departure yet.” Leon said shrugging.
“Ah, I see. Then we have a lot of time getting know each other.” Talia smiled warmly.
Leon chuckled and ran her finger through his hair.”Yeah. Just a friendly warning. I’m a bit talkative.”
“As long as you don’t bite, I will still enjoy your company.” she joked, but Leon quiet surprised by what Talia said. It took few seconds to realize it was just a joke. Talia stopped in the middle of the crossroad. “Well, my house in on this side.” she pointed toward the left tunnel.”Anyway, nice meeting you, Leon and bye.” she waved goodbye at him. Becky who was few inches in front of them was just focusing on her licking ice cream.
“Bye and have a good night.” Leon said along with a nod. There was a bit of hesitation but he could control himself quickly. He watched Talia disappeared behind the tunnel.
Leon could easily follow Becky’s step, the next second he was already on Becky’s right side. He circled his arm around Becky’s shoulder as they made their way back to the motel.”How’s the ice cream?” he asked.
“Smurfilicious.” she giggled.
“What?” Leon laughed confusingly.”What’s that mean?”
“Smurfilicious means delicious. That’s how the smurfs talked.” Becky explained.”Leon you are too old.” she added while laughing.
“Hey, hey. Just because I don’t know about Smurfs, doesn’t mean I’m old.” Leon faked a pout.
“Whatever, but you are still the old guy.” Becky teased him. She ran away from him while laughing loudly.
Leon followed her.”Kids nowadays.” he muttered to himself while shaking his head.
Becky was too busy laughing at Leon; she didn’t even know what was in front her. She accidentally bumped into someone. It was Ethan; the doctor for the hospital Leon stole the blood bag.
“Oops sorry Uncle Ethan.” Becky stopped laughing and apologized.
“Becky. What are you doing here? Your grandfather will be worry.” he said, patting the girl’s head softly.
“Oh I was with Leon. He is new in the town. I’m his tour guide.” she answered him cutely.
“Ah I see. It’s too dangerous to go with a stranger, Becky.”
“But Leon is a nice guy. He bought me an ice cream too.” The moment she answered him, Leon approached them.
“Who is this, Becky?” Leon asked.
“Uncle Ethan, this is Leon. Leon, this is Uncle Ethan, our family friend.” Becky introduced both of them.
Even though it was their first meeting, but both of them had a strange feeling toward each other. Ethan’s instinct said there was something not right about Leon.
“Leon Winters.” Leon said and offered his hand.
Ethan eyed him for few seconds before taking his hand for a handshake.”Ethan Wachtel.” Even though he was a vampire hunter, he hadn’t learned the trick to recognize a vampire instantly.
While Leon himself, he had met a lot vampire hunters, they all shared the same scents as humans. But there was something in Ethan’s eyes that told him to keep a distance with him. “Nice meeting you Ethan.” he said finally.
“You too.” Ethan replied flatly.”I have to go now, Becky see you later.” He ruffled the girl’s hair.”Hope you find this town interesting.” He said to Leon.
Leon nodded.”Thanks.” and by that Ethan left both Leon and Becky. Leon and Becky went back to the motel while Ethan made his way back to his home.

“Mom, Dad. I’m home.” Talia said as she entered her house. She took off her jacket and put it on hanger, then walked to the dining room, where her parents—adoptive parents were preparing the dinner.
“We made you pasta, dear.” her mom said.
“I’m full mom. You two carry on. I feel so tired, I’m going to bed.” she said and turned back to the stairs.
“Talia, you sister called an hour ago.” her dad said when she was about to climb the stairs.
“Really? What did she say?”
“Nothing, she just asked about you, and then she hung up.” her dad shrugged.
“Did she say when she’s coming?”
Her parents shook their head together in a hint of disappointment.
Talia rolled her eyes.”Selena is always like that.” She muttered to herself.”Anyway, Thanks dad and Night, mom.” She said and went upstairs.

She freshened up and lied in her bed, watching those stars painted ceiling above her. Her thought flew to Leon. There was a strange connection between them, which she could point at. She couldn’t remember their meeting. Even though what he said about the train was a believable reason, she felt it wasn’t right one. It wasn’t how they met.
She sighed.”What’s wrong with you, Talia. You should sleep. Not thinking about nonsense things.” she said to herself. She closed her eyes slowly and waited for sleep to take her to another world.
As she closed her eyes, events from her past started to fill her dreams.
