Rain

It's like shooting yourself in the leg right after a perfect hunt. It's this awful feeling in your gut that you know you majorly fucked up.

I've been caught making out with people before- but never after lying to my dad. And never while getting drunk. I really stepped in it.

"Daddy, I can explain!" I stand quickly, biting my lip as I try to find something to say.

"M-Mr. Stark?!" Peter stands alongside me, looking scared, confused, and embarrassed.

It was like my dad totally forgot about my presence, as he looks to Peter with rage. I'd only seen that look one other time. It was not a good look. He points to peter and speaks through gritted teeth. "My daughter. I tell you to get out there, to live a little, not stress too much, and you go after my daughter?!" He yells

"Th- you're her dad?!" He asks, still trying to wrap his head around this whole situation.

"Daddy if you just sit down for a second I can explain-" I try and rush out, but with the blink of an eye my dad has Peter in a chokehold. "Dad stop!" I instantly scream, running over and prying his hands off the brunette's neck before any air can actually be cut off.

"Mr. Stark, I-I wouldn't have come here if I knew you were related! I wouldn't have even gone near her!" Peter stutters as he looks at the ground, daring not to make eye contact.

"Daddy, I made the first move. I kissed him, I got us the liquor, I lied to you! I didn't even know you knew Peter!"

"She had no idea, sir. I swear." He has a pleading look in his eyes, as if something huge is on the line.

Before my dad can speak, I interrupt. "How do you guys know each other?" I ask calmly, watching my dad and Peter exchange a look.

"It's none of your business, Chloe. None whatsoever. Peter, out of here. Now." I see Peter scramble to pick his things up. He glances at me before running out the front door, my dad's eyes burning holes into the side of my head as I view him "As for you..."

"Daddy, I'm sorry." I whisper, looking down at the ground.

"What in god's name were you thinking?! Lying to me?! Stealing my expensive shit?! Making out with someone on the couch?! Do I even know you anymore?!"
"I really like Peter, daddy. I didn't want him to know you were my dad in case-"

"In case of what? Are you embarrassed to have me as your dad?"

"No! That's not it- stop twisting my words!"

"Do not raise your voice at me!" He snaps, making me instantly shut up. "You blatantly lied to me. You broke several house rules. You're grounded. Do you understand me?"

"B-but d-" I try to debate.

"Chloe Maria Stark, do you understand me!?" He practically roars, and I tear up, nodding.

"Yes, dad." I barely utter, taking my bag off the couch and walking to my room with my head held in shame.

I've never seen my dad that mad. Then again, I've never lied like that. It's like... Like he's not even my dad. He's so angry. Usually he'd call one of his friends and ask what to do, but I think his mind is set. He probably only has one question- grounded for life, or in the afterlife too?

I'll sleep it off, think about it in the morning when my mind is straight, when I'm more together, when my dad's disappointment isn't echoing in my head like a scream in an empty, linoleum room. I hate to admit, but this fucking hurts.

I never want to make him angry again.
