If I Had You

It's been five months since Peter stood me up, but he apologized immediately the next day. Apparently his Aunt needed him home for something. A lame excuse, but I still accepted it. Out of everyone who asked to hang out I was only drawn to one Peter Parker. He seems a tad bit taken with me as well. Though, whenever he asks my last name I switch topics. I can't ruin a good thing with a sure-thing. If he were anyone else, maybe I would tell him. But there's one thing about Peter that set him away from the rest.

He's a total geek.

Computers, gadgets, gizmos, science, technology, all that crap. That boy would have an orgasm if I told him who my father was- probably his first at that. But I'm starting to really like Peter, I could be honest with him and he could be honest with me. I'm sure he has some secrets of his own, and if we're content with keeping them, what's the rush to spill?

Which brings us to right now. Peter and I sit in AP Bio with the teacher blabbering about... I don't know. Probably bug sex and punnett squares. Peter's doodling some weird chemical equation, and I'm doing what has become a daily routine. Staring at Peter, then pretending I'm staring at Flash Thompson when he catches me. I have no interest in that boy whatsoever, but he sits directly across from Peter and I.

I know, this got cliche super fast. Girl meets boy, girl falls for boy, boy has no idea. I'm aware of the fact you're mentally checking out, and figuring out the rest of said relationship. But I won't apologize. Teenage hormones cause you to develop romantic feelings for anyone who treats you with common human decency. Sue me.

I won't say I'm falling for Peter Parker. But damn, is that boy a looker. The way his light brown hair was disheveled ever so slightly, the way his caramel eyes sparkled in the cloudy sunlight. He was like some figment of my imagination, some imaginary boyfriend from my childhood that jesus himself sent to me. He's like-

"And Chloe-" Mrs. Markley says my name, pulling me back into reality from my rampant train of thought. "You and Peter will be doing your project on macroevolution."

"Oh- Alright." I smile gently, looking down at Peter's notes and then looking up at him, giving a sheepish grin as he laughs to himself.

Once the bell rings students begin to file out, and I grab my bag. "Wanna work on the project after school?" Peter asks, slinging his bag over his shoulder.

"Yeah, your place?" I suggest.

"My building is getting tented for termites... How does your place sound? Casa de Chloe?"
"Um- yeah. I'll just have to ask my dad about it and uh- yeah." I stumble over my words like a retro bike on rocky terrain. He seems none the wiser, though, as he grins.

"Awesome. Meet me on the football field after school?"

"Totally." I nod, biting my lip and forcing a smile. With that, he walked off, and I took out my phone with lightning speed, texting my dad.

'Daddy, can you be out of the house tonight?'

'Usually you're more subtle when trying to throw parties without permission.'

'I need to work on a project with my friend, and we reeeeeeally need space. It's for AP bio'

'Depends. Partner a girl or a boy?'

I hesitated before answering. 'Girl'

'Fine, but don't make this the night you experiment, wait till college.'

'Ew dad'

'Love you princess'

'Thinkin about it after that comment, but ig i love u too'

Tonight was going to be long.
