I didn't go to school for one month. I was embarrassed for that month, I blamed myself for that month, I destroyed myself for that month.

My dad tried everything, and I mean everything. He even tried to get Beyonce, but as he said before, It's never Beyonce.

But after one month I realized I couldn't hide forever, I had to face all the people I was scared of being judged by.

So now here I am. I walk into the front entrance, holding my backpack to my shoulder like I'm clinging for dear life, and make a beeline for my locker.

I know only Peter and I know what really happened, but I'm not stupid, I know if I'm gone for more than a day people will talk. I have no clue what lies or rumours have been spread, but with every stare and whisper, I know they can't be good.

"Locker, books, class." I repeat this over and over in my head. I'm not gonna get distracted, I just need to get to damn class. I fail my combination once or twice, but eventually get my locker open, watching the white piece of loose leaf paper fall out and to my feet. I confusedly bend down and pick it up, unfolding it

"Chloe,

I know who you are. I know what you're hiding. I know every little thing about you. If you want to keep up your facade, I suggest you meet me in the alley on 22nd street at 7pm. Tonight. The clock is ticking, Miss Stark."

I immediately crumple up the paper in my hand, keeping it in my clenched fist as I grab my science books, running off to class. I recycle the note in my hand upon arrival, taking my seat and taking three deep breaths, three being just enough before Peter comes in, grinning at me.

"Hey!" He says happily as he walks over to me, hugging me. "You're back!"

"Couldn't hide forever." I laugh softly, hugging back. "Life here been normal? Or at least as normal as it gets?"

"Yup. Boring. Except for the fact Ned and I are working on a lego TIE fighter." He chuckles. "We could use some extra help on it, wanna sacrifice your monday night to play with legos?"

"Peter, I think that is the hottest thing you've ever said to me." I say, trying to keep a straight face and failing, laughing. "I'd absolutely love to, but I have to leave by seven."

"What's at seven?" He asks with a slight tilt of his head.

"Just thought I should be home early, after what happened I can't have my dad worrying." I lie, smiling with a shrug.

"That's fair, props to your dad for not being too freaky about letting you back out into the world."

"I'm sure he'd love to hear that." I say sarcastically. "Now get to your seat, bell's about to ring."

He rolls his eyes and plants a kiss on my cheek, going to his seat and taking out his book. I do the same, paying close attention during class, in case I missed anything from the homework.

I missed a lot, but we can't all be winners.

The rest of the day was normal. The regular "Where were you?"'s and "I missed you so much!"'s. All I was really looking forward to was building that damn lego TIE fighter.

When the bell rang I ran to Peter's locker, knowing I'd find the both of them there. The walk to Peter's apartment was uneventful, except for the rat we saw eating a smaller rat, and the debate that followed after on whether it was cute, creepy, or cool.

"It's adorable! The one rat loved the other rat so much he ate him!" I argue.

"I don't think he was eating the other rat because they love each other, I don't think that's ever been a cliche in rom-coms!" Ned counters, and Peter groans.

"No cannibalistic rat talk around May!"

That shut us up. We spent all night eating some shitty pizza and trying to figure out where the pieces of the ship went. I was so caught up in the fun I didn't notice that the clock displayed 6:57pm.

"Shit, guys I gotta head out." I stand up off the floor, stretching.

"The temperatures dropped like twenty degrees, take one of my sweatshirts." Peter smiles up at me.

"You guys realize the cliche-ness of your relationship, right? It's important to me that you realize it." Ned chuckles.

"Oh, we realize." I smile, slipping on the sweatshirt laid on Peter's desk chair. "We have a checklist of relationship cliches we need to get out of the way."

"It's true, check my phone." Peter tosses his phone to Ned.

"Late night phone conversation, fight over something senseless, kissing in the rain... You guys are eerily good for each other."

"We take pride in it. Seeya later, nerds." I smile, leaving the apartment and heading to 22nd street, crossing my arms over my torso, bouncing on my heels and checking the time; 7:08pm.

"This was stupid." I mumble, beginning to walk away before I feel a dull, abrupt pain in the back of my head, causing me to fall, blacking out before hitting the ground.

Never go places alone at night, under any circumstances.
