A/n: This is the request. @pascarlinea I'm sorry that it took so long but here you are and I hope it is of your liking. Usually trigger warnings through with a bit more violence and a lot more paranoia.
"How can you? She is your own sister and you don't do a thing to help her", you seeth, glaring at Soviet Russia. He just rubs his temples at your outburst, as if the whole matter is causing him a headache and straightens his peaked cap.
Letting his hands fall to his sides he starts to pace around the room, back and forth, like a lion in a cage. Stopping in front of the window he casts you an accusing glance.
"Don't you understand? If I admit that there was an incident then America and his band of bastards will try to destroy me", he growls, his words as cold and bitter as the Russian winter.
But the problem is that he can't just sit back and let things take their course.
The Super-GAU of Chernobyl happened a week ago and the effects of the disaster are beginning to show, thus causing a great uproar in the Kremlin. The government was confounded and only after hour-long debates had they send a few specialists to the site to supervise the clean-up. Russia's sister, Ukraine, had sent you to Moscow so that you could attempt to coax him to put more effort into the affair. For some reason unknown to you the superpower seemed willing to hear you about where he had already thrown other out of his office.
You had arrived at the train station in the capital to be picked up by three, pale white and shivering, Baltics. Once you had got to the Kremlin you had been surprised to find out that even Belarus was steering clear of her beloved, now very disgruntled, big brother.
Despite the forewarnings, you had received and had gone to his office to confront Ivan. And now you are here, directly in front of the lion.
"Or the others will backstab me and leave me to bleed out like a dog", he hisses.
There is the paranoia. The constant fear that those close to him will double-cross him. This is the reason why he lashes out at the Baltics, why he avoids his sisters, why he looks down at the other nations under in his care. For an unfathomable justification, you're the only one he tolerates, the only one he talks in a somewhat normal manner too.
After choosing your words carefully you say: "I'll leave you some time to think about it".
Not waiting for a response you march out of the office and softly close the door behind you. Sighing you walk out of the massive complex and into the huge garden. If only it had just been an explosion but no, it had to include a radioactive cloud wreaking havoc on half of Europe, resulting in telephone calls from various countries every few minutes, demanding to know what happened. All of them are shrugged off with an array of petty excuses.
You let yourself fall onto a bench, closing your eyes and taking a deep breath of the crisp morning air of the mid-spring day. Upon hearing footsteps your way you look up half expecting to see Ivan coming your way but instead the sight of Estonia calms you down. His hair is a mess and there are dark rings under his eyes. For what you judge his nerves are fried and he is just as perplex as you.
"He still won't see that he has to do something, or not?", he asks grimly, referring to Russia.
Shaking your head you confirm: "Well, he accused you and the others of conspiring against him", recalling the argument.
"By now you would think that he knows better. Alas, it can't be helped. Drastic matters call for drastic measures, we'll have to...", he stops mid-sentence once he sees your skeptical look. Raising an eyebrow and glaring at you as if to ask if you really question his ingenious plan.
