Eerika walked out of her bedroom the night and walked outside to where Hillevi was tending to her horse. Eerika watched her little girl, it had been 10 years since she took her daughter away and 3 since she had seen her daughter last. Eerika was not sure how Hillevi had survived on her own. She barely even knew her daughter at all. Eerika walked up to her daughter with a strained smile. "I wish you would come on the raid with Bjorn." Eerika spoke her wish out loud causing Hillevi to cast a distant nod in recognition.
"I'm sure you do. At least you are asking me instead of stealing me in the dead of night." Hillevi spat bitterly before turning and walking back into the house which her mother followed her into.
"I did what I thought was right. Look, where are you going?" Eerika demanded to know.
"I will stay here for a while but if I so decide, I am going back into the mountains. Where I survived by myself. I lived by the words you whispered in my ear the night you left, 'We are warriors before human, before lovers and before our humanity. Never lose sight of the fight, for it will save your life.' Now shouldn't you be leaving?" Hillevi snapped and all Eerika could do was look at her daughter proudly before nodding and climbing up on her horse noticing the small packs there for her travels. Eerika then rode off to Kattegat. Hillevi rode into Kattegat later that night for the celebration and sacrifice. When she got there Hillevi walked into the hall and went forward to sit beside someone she knew slightly and poured herself some ale. Ubbe turned to the side with a grin and leaned closer to Hvitserk.
"There is your future wife." Ubbe grinned hitting Hvitserk's arm making him laugh looking in the distance.
"Fuck off Ubbe." Hvitserk laughed watching Hillevi talking with a group of men while drinking ale with a frown. Eerika was sitting with her own group of people drinking ale. She watched from far away as Bjorn sat with his wife and family while Einar ran up to Hillevi who wrapped her arm around her brother lovingly. Bjorn walked up to Eerika throwing his arms around her proudly.
"Our son is good. Did you raise him alone?" Bjorn asked looking to the slender woman with her braided dark long hair and bright smiled as she threw back the ale.
"He is, he has grown much. He has so much love in his heart. He will grow up good" Eerika nodded proudly. Bjorn chuckled when his eyes strayed to the door seeing Lagathar, his mother walk through. Eerika smiled seeing her as well. The two then walked up to her.
"Mother and Astrid." Bjorn cheered upon seeing them. Eerika walked next to Bjorn giving Lagathar a tight embrace.
"It is good to see you again Lagathar." Eerika nodded to the woman who had trained her how to become a better fighter.
"The pleasure is all mine, where is Hillevi? She must be much grown." Lagathar shared making Eerika nod and point to the only woman among the group of men laughing and drinking. "She is a woman now, who is the young boy she is with?"
"That is my son and she is a fearless warrior, I hoped she would meet you one day. Maybe you would inspire something great in her." Eerika smiled complimentary of Lagathar. She always had been.
"Surely simple talk has not brought you to Kattegat, so what has?" Bjorn asked holding his mother's hand.
"I have to watch my son depart for his destiny. How could I stay away?" Lagathar asked hugging Bjorn before walking off with Eerika. "Is she a shield maiden yet?" Lagathar asked his eyes turning on the daughter of Eerika.
"I assume she is a great warrior, she spent three years alone, surviving and she seems to have come out strong." Eerika shared with a sadness in her voice.
