Inhaling is where you breathe in oxygen (as mentioned in the chapter titled 'Understanding of Inhalation'). But what is oxygen and where does it come from? Most of the world's oxygen comes from a tiny plant called 'phytoplankton'. It is located at the surface of the ocean and drifts with the currents. The dictionary definition of 'oxygen' is: a colourless, odourless reactive gas, the chemical element of atomic number 8 and the life-supporting component of the air.
When we breathe, we inhale more oxygen than carbon-dioxide, but when we exhale, we breathe out more carbon-dioxide than oxygen. What is 'carbon-dioxide' though? The dictionary definition of carbon-dioxide is: a colourless, odourless gas produced by burning carbon and organic compounds and by respiration. It is naturally present in air (about 0.03 per cent) and is absorbed by plants in photosynthesis.
Well, now that you know what you're inhaling and exhaling, it's time to learn how to actually breathe.
