It's been 5 hours in this car. We're all tired, hungry and impatient. But there was something about this time around.

Every summer, my family and I go to our cottage just outside of Toronto. It's pretty fun, there's a lot of beautiful wooded areas and lakes, but there hasn't been any neighbours around us in years. That makes for a quiet summer which sometimes isn't the best. I mean, having to deal with my parents 24/7 can be really exhausting.

"Y/n, hey!" My dad shouted from the driver's seat of our car.
"Yeah, what's up." I said while yawning.
"Your aunt just texted, she went by the cottage and saw that there's a new family moving in next door for the summer! And they have kids!" My mom stated excitedly.
"Yay! Some bratty kids we'll have to put up with for two and a half months."
But considering it's usually just the three of us, some new people won't hurt anything.
"She said there's one around your age. Maybe you could actually make some new friends this summer." Mom always had a way with words; this shouldn't be too bad.

"We're here!" I joyfully shouted looking at the 3 storey cottage home I find all too familiar.
I collapsed onto the grass and started singing,
"No more driving! No more driving!"
"Y/n, come get your bags?" My dad laughed while holding up my luggage.
I grabbed the two suitcases & duffel bag I brought, and hauled them into the house. I walked up the stairs to the room I always stay in and started to get myself situated.

The room had a bed, desk, closet and a dresser with a television hanging above it. My favourite part was the bay window. Looking to the lake, you can see all of the beautiful colours come together. The house next door, usually empty, was occupied with a few bags and boxes. I wonder who's sharing the cottage with us this year.

"Y/n! Dinner!" Dad shouted from downstairs in the kitchen.
"Coming!" I threw my bags on the bed and departed down the stairs.
As I was sitting down at the table, I looked to my right to see out of the window. The whole wall was made of see through panels facing the lake, and it was a really cool asset.
"Voila! Our first meal at the cottage is Kraft Dinner because we haven't gone to town yet!" My mom tried to say happily with jazz hands.
"Thanks mom. I'm sure it's great."

After dinner, I unpacked my clothes and started putting picture frames on the desk & dresser. Looking at my phone, the time was 6:00 and the day was winding down so I changed into some comfortable clothes.
I threw on some black shorts from Under Armour, and a sweatshirt from Pink. When I reached for my glasses, my mom texted me from the kitchen.

Mom: Come downstairs!
Y/n: ok

I clicked my phone off and went down the double flight of stairs.

"Hey mom, what did you ne-" I stopped my sentence because there were other people in the house, and frankly I was not dressed for company.
"Hi dear! These are our new neighbours, the Lieberhers!" She said with that mom smile saying 'be nice and introduce yourself'. There was a woman, and a boy that looked around my age. He was actually really cute.
"Hey, I'm y/n. Nice to meet you." I shook their hands and gave a warm smile.
"Hello hon! I'm Angela, this is my son Jaeden. I'm sure you guys will get along great." The woman who I now know as Angela stated.
"Y/n why don't you show Jaeden up to your room, I'm sure he would rather hang out with someone his age rather than us." All of the adults let out a laugh.
"Uh, sure. Here, follow me."

Jaeden followed me up the stairs while I was giving out names of the doors we passed.
"Okay so this is the bathroom, uhm, that's the office, storage room, and here we are." When we reached my door I realized I didn't properly introduce myself.
"So, hi I'm y/n, I'm 14, and I like food."
He let out a giggle and started,
"Hello, I'm Jaeden, I'm also 14 and I like to act."
Act. I know I've seen him somewhere, I just can't put my finger on it.
"Have I seen you somewhere? You look really familiar." I questioned, inspecting his face a bit more.
damn. He's adorable.
"I-I'm actually in a movie. It's a remake of Stephen King's IT. I don't know if you've hea-"
I had to stop him there.
"Oh my gosh! Yeah! I read the book and I've been waiting so long for the new movie."
He looked a little bit un easy, and was keeping his eyes low.
You blew it already, y/n.
Wait, what did I do?
"Hey, are you okay?" I asked quietly.
"Yeah. Sorry. I just don't like to tell people that I'm 'famous'. It gives them a different view of me." I felt bad, I couldn't imagine having that much pressure at 14.
"Don't worry. I wouldn't care if you came in here and told me you were in 10 movies, you seem nice and that's all that matters."
A blush came across his cheeks as well as a gorgeous smile.
"Want to watch a movie or something? Sounds like they might be awhile." I let out with a chuckle.
"For sure."

We sat on my bed and turned on Netflix when I heard Jaeden say something,
"You have a really nice room. And I love the window."
He got up and as soon as he did, I felt like I was missing something.
You've been with him an hour, stop that.
"Ha. You're right across from my room."
That's his room. Great. I'm feeling some major Riverdale vibes and we all know how that ended.
"Oh haha. Netflix is loaded. Whatcha wanna watch?"
"How about Poltergeist?"
In all honesty, I'm not a huge fan of horror movies. I only want to see the new IT because the cast is like, super attractive.
"Uhm, sure. Yeah, whatever you like." I spit out too fast. He sat down next to me and we both leaned back.

About halfway through the movie, it was getting really intense. There was a flash and I hid behind the nearest object; which happened to be Jaeden.
"OH MY GOSH IS IT OVER YET PLEASE TELL ME ITS OVER!" I screamed into his chest.
He started laughing hysterically and finally let out a small "Yep." I slowly raised myself and apologized,
"Haha. Sorry about that."
He gave me a reassuring smile,
"It's okay, you looked cute."
I blushed and got comfortable back in my original spot.

I ended up falling asleep near the end of the movie, and I woke up on Jaeden's lap. He was watching an episode of The Office and playing with my hair. I lifted my head only slightly because I was pretty comfortable already.
"Hey sleepy."
I let out a weird grunt and put my head back down.
"What time is it?" I said with a long yawn.
"It's around 10. When my mom texted for me to leave I told her we were going to pull an all nighter watching old movies. Your parents were fine with it and they went down to the lake for a bonfire."
I was really happy, all though I didn't know if he wanted to actually stay with me all night.
"Thanks Jaeden. We can still do that all night thing if you give me 10 more minutes of sleep."
He laughed,
"Of course."
I shut my eyes and fell asleep to him trying to braid my hair.

About a half an hour later, I woke up to Jaeden watching yet another episode of The Office.
I sat up and said,
"You know, you could've woken me up."
"You looked so peaceful, I didn't want to disturb that."
He said and blushed after.
I grinned and said,
"Thanks Jae, you make a good pillow."
I sat up and leaned on his shoulder,
"You know, I've only been with you a few hours, asleep for most of them, but I can already tell this is going to be a great summer."
He smiled down at me and whispered,
"Me too."

We laid on the floor, just staring at the ceiling. It was silent until,
"Hey y/n; want to do something?"
My mouth dropped open.
"Uhm. I just met you toda-"
He looked at me in awe;
"Oh my god no! Not like that I swear! What I meant was, do you want to sneak out?"
I started laughing and rolled over onto his legs
"Yeah, sure. Let me get some shoes."
I said in between laughs.

We descended out the window, using the marbled bricks as maneuvering handles. Jaeden went down first, and when I was about 4 feet from the ground, my hand slipped.
"Woah!" I landed into Jaeden's arms.
"Are you okay?" He asked frantically.
"Yeah, I'm ok. Just startled. Thanks for catching me." I kissed his cheek and smiled.
"L-lets uh, go down to the dock."
He stuttered out.

A few hours had passed and we had endless things to talk about. We were sitting on the dock, watching the stars, pouring our lives out to each other. He had such an interesting personality, there was always something more I wanted to know.

I sat up, and turned towards a laying Jaeden. I grabbed his hand and started playing with his fingers.
"I'm so glad that you and your Mom moved in next door."
I don't know what it was, but my eyes kept going back to his lips.
"I am too. This is the best night I've had in a long time."
I could feel myself blushing at his remark. He sat up and got really close to me. I was still playing with his hand, looking down, when I felt another lift my chin. I looked up and met eyes with him.
I got nervous and quietly started rambling,
"So Jaeden what was it li-"
I was cut off by his lips on mine. I put my hand to his neck and another to his hair. He had his hands around my waist until we separated. He caressed his thumb on my jaw and I felt his breath down my neck. It made me shiver.
"You know, y/n, your eyes glimmer under the stars. They're gorgeous, like you."
He whispered with a new found confidence in his voice.
Before he could say anything else I smashed my lips onto his. We were moving in sync, it was perfect.

I woke up to an arm wrapped around my waist, and my head on Jaeden's chest. He was lightly snoring, and I could hear his heartbeat. Everything was so peaceful.
