It was the final period before lunch, and Kailey couldn't wait to get out of History; the only class with none of her friends in it. As a new student that came in mid year for grade 10, they welcomed her really quickly.

Walking in to lunch on her first day, a nervous Kailey tried to navigate the large cafeteria.
"Hey! You!"
A girl with choppy red hair shouted.
She made a gesture towards herself mouthing, 'who? Me?'.
"Yes! You!"
Hesitant, she made her way to the table the girl was sitting at.
"So, you looked lost over there and we didn't want you to sit alone."
Confused, she questioned the girl.
"We?"
Finally looking up from her feet, revealed 6 other people at the table.
"Do you have a name?"
A boy with very curly hair snapped at her.
Another boy, this time with black wavy hair & freckles stood up and walked over, shaking her hand.
"Don't listen to ramen head over there. I'm Finn. Finn Wolfhard. And might I say, you are smoking."
Blushing a crimson red, she muttered out a 'thanks'.
"I'm Kailey. Just moved here."
"Well Kailey, I'm Sophia, and this is Jack, Jeremy, Wyatt, Jaeden, Chosen, and you've already met Finn the flirt over here."
Sophia pointed as she named the other people, receiving a wave from each.
"You just going to stand there? Sit! Let's eat."
The boy she now knows as Jack shouts, a large smile present on his face.
Finding a seat in between Wyatt & Jaeden, everyone disperses into their own conversations, leaving a flustered Kailey.
"H-hey. Are you alright?"
Jaeden asks below a whisper.
"Haha. Yeah. Just nervous."
He put a hand on her knee comfortingly,
"Don't be."

"Okay class! You have been dismissed."
Snapped out of her thoughts, she grabbed her backpack and went down the long halls to the cafeteria.
Pushing past the double doors, swerving students, she made it to her friends.
Since that day, she's sat with them every lunch period & class.
They always talked about everything, and nothing ever seemed to run dry.
But there was one thing.
Jaeden & Kailey evidently liked each other. But it was like no matter how much flirting they did, they didn't even notice. Everyone in the group saw it, and wanted them together for the longest time.
"Hey guys!"
"Hey Kailey!" Jaeden said enthusiastically, while scooting over to make room for her.
She sat down and everyone was wrapped up in their own minds; talking, eating, just normal.
That was, until Sophia spoke up.
"Everyone. My place tonight. Bring your stuff, you're all sleeping over. Okay?"
They usually did these things every Friday, someone saying their house was the place and boom. Group sleepover.
But she had something different planned for tonight.
"Okay. I'm free. Jaeden?" Kailey tapped his shoulder, snapping him out of his daze. Looking at her.
"Oh, yeah of course. I'd love to go." He said this all while making perfect eye contact, directing his last sentence at her.

Later that day, they all gathered at Sophia's house for their weekly event.
Sitting in a circle on the floor of the basement, they were going to play a friendly game of spin the bottle. (When is it ever friendly?)
Since they were so close, nothing like this fazed them.
"Alright, who's spinning first?" Jeremy said, placing the empty Pop Shoppe bottle on the hardwood floor.
Kailey being pretty relaxed with these things, and since she still hasn't admitted to herself that she likes Jaeden, volunteers.
"I'll go. Let's get this show on the road."

She spun the bottle, quite fast. Slowly coming to its end, it landed on Finn.
Smirking, he stood up and pulled her into a heated kiss.
Taken by surprise, she kissed back. If she did have any feelings toward him, she would be a blushing, flustered mess.
Jaeden sat, scoffing and rolling his eyes.
After Finn tried to get some more action, Kailey pulled away.
"Alright. Calm down pretty boy. Who's next?"

They played for the next hour, stealing meaningless kisses from each other. It was a great night.
"How about we play something else?" Sophia said, wiggling her eyebrows. This was the crucial part in their plan. They had gotten together before Jaeden & Kailey arrived to sort things out.
"Yeah. I'm up for anything." Chosen said, surprisingly calm.
"Okay! It's settled, we're playing seven minutes in heaven ahaha. Everyone put your names in the hat." Jack yelled; his tone perky and then laughing into a serious one.
Everyone proceeded as told, writing their names and throwing it into Jacks Vans SnapBack.
Everyone actually wrote only Jaeden & Kailey's name, not thinking that they could draw two of the same name.
Jack passed Wyatt the hat who held it over his head and reached in.
"Well would you look at that! Jaeden Lieberher my man."
Jaeden got up lazily and walked over to the hat. Everyone crossed their fingers that he wouldn't pull another 'Jaeden' paper.
"K-Kailey."
There were a lot of breaths let out after he uttered her name.
"Okay. I'm down."
She was confident, not wanting to look like she had a thing for him.
They walked into the fairly large closet, which was occupied by a few coats & linens on shelves.

"They thought they were being slick out there." Kailey said, laughing at her remark.
"What do you mean?" Jaeden at this point was nervous, not knowing if the girl he liked didn't want to be in here with him.
Inching closer to him, she spoke;
"Y'know. The whole 'write just our names and hope for the best' kind of thing."
He looked down,
"O-oh."
His tone came out low and sad.
Wrapping her arms around his neck, he looked into her eyes.
"But don't worry. I like being in here with you."
Her whispering tone put him over the edge.
He pushed her into the wall of the closet and kissed her. She kissed back. Not like with Finn earlier. She felt something. His hands traveled to her lower back and hers to his hair, running them through it.

"Jesus, what are they doing in there?" Jeremy said from outside the closet.
"Well judging from the loud banging on the walls I'd say they're using their time wisely." Sophia said in a tone that screamed, really Jeremy?

Pulling away from their heated moment, Jaeden started rambling about how he was sorry for his actions. A small hand came to his cheek, pulling his lips down to hers.
As they grazed each other, Kailey wanted to clarify.
"Don't be sorry. I really like you."
With that, she pushed him against the opposite wall, pressing her lips to his.

Annoyed from the noise, Wyatt yelled,
"CAN YOU TWO JUST GET A ROOM?"
They all laughed, knowing that they did it.

They made them happy.
