finn. millie. finn and millie. millie and finn. that's how it had always been. finn and millie had been friends for longer than they can both remember.
they loved each other, dearly.
problem is, the way they loved each other..was different.
finn? yeah, he loved millie. of course.
but.
he didn't love millie the way she loved him.

"well, yeah, obviously billie is like, that big monster or whatever, but twelve is probably also part of the problem, you know. he IS a super-human-alien thing."
"true, millie. i just wonder how they're gonna get him out of the downside. he destroyed that medigordon to save michelle, justice, and lauren."
"i have no idea, honestly. you're still coming over on christmas, right? to watch season two."
"yeah, of course, mills. i'm gonna miss the halloween theme though, but i'm excited to have a christmas theme now. it takes place a year later, i wonder how it's going to work out."
i nodded and looked around the cafeteria. usually, as a normal, kinda known, kinda not typical high schooler, i'd be jealous of the popular cliques. you're in one of those, and bam, an endless automatic stream of friends. kinda like when you go to a restaurant for bottomless fries or something.
but, i wasn't jealous. i had finn, and he had me. finn was one of those kids with bottomless friends, but it was always me and finn in the end.
millie and finn, finn and millie.
has a nice ring to it, right?"well, there's the video game theme, from the trailer..." i trailed off, looking at finn. he had stopped paying attention to what i was saying, eyes following something around the room.
i looked to where he was looking, and oh, how i wish i hadn't. he was following an angel. no, not literally, but...well yeah, literally.
she looked like she was glowing. her blonde hair was trailing behind her, like a dress of a bride. she had a few stray strands of hair dangling in front of her eyes. even from over here, her eyes, green, like an emerald, are sparkling.
she walked by our booth, and glanced at finn. she slowed, looking at finn, observing his features. he smiled and waved. she winked, and continued walking away. this whole scene happened in the matter of five seconds, but it felt like forever. he glanced back at me.
"what were you saying?"
i sighed quietly.
"nothing, finn. absolutely nothing."
