"Y/n? Are you home?" I heard my roommate call out as she entered our apartment.
"Yea! I'm in here!" I called back, smiling when she walked into the living room.
"Hey, you," she smiled back, walking over to where I was sitting. "What are you doing?"
"Math homework," I said as I closed my notebook and placed it onto the coffee table. "How was your day?"
"Tiring," she sighed as she sat next to me and swung her legs over my lap.
I smiled slightly as I rubbed her legs, letting her relax a little.
"You look exhausted. Why don't we chill and watch movies tonight?" I asked the shorter girl.
"You know I'd love to, but I can't," she told me. "I have that date tonight."
I scoffed slightly when she said that.
"What?" She asked, catching my attitude change.
"That guy is such an asshole. I don't even know why you agreed to let him take you on a date. He doesn't deserve you," I ranted slightly, watching her raise her eyebrows at me.
"Why do you say that? He was really sweet when he asked me," she explained.
"Trust me, Ally. He only wants one thing from you," I told her, watching her face drop.
"I think you're wrong, but okay," she retorted, catching me off guard.
Damnit. I didn't mean to piss her off.
"Ally, you know I didn't mean it like that. I'm just saying he's a douchebag and he doesn't deserve to even take you out on a date," I said, biting my lip when she removed her legs from my lap.
"You've said that about the last three guys I've gone on dates with," she told me as she stood up, crossing her arms
"Wasn't I right about all of those guys?" I asked, watching her roll her eyes at me.
"You're jealous," she said, squinting her eyes at me.
"What?" I asked. "No, I am not."
"Yes, you are. Don't lie," she accused, making me scoff.
She was right, but I wouldn't admit that.
"I'm not jealous," I told her.
Yes, I was. I wanted to be the one taking her out on dates. Those guys didn't know her like I did. They didn't deserve her.
"Whatever. Don't get upset if I don't come home tonight," she told me as she started to walk away.
"Are you serious right now?" I asked her.
"Why are you so upset about this?" She asked, turning back to me.
She gave me a few seconds to answer and turned back around when I didn't, beginning to walk away again.
"Because I want to be the one taking you out!" I said, raising my voice slightly, which made her stop dead in her tracks.
She turned around quickly, scanning me to make sure she really heard what I said.
"What did you say?" She asked as she faced me completely.
"I want to be the one who gets to take you on a date," I repeated more lightly this time. "Those other guys don't deserve you."
"Why not?" She asked as she took a few steps towards me.
"They don't know you like I do," I told her.
"Why are you just telling me all of this?" She asked as she now stood in front of me, reaching her hands out to take mine.
"I- I didn't want to mess anything up," I admitted, pulling her closer to me.
"I'm cancelling my date," she told me.
"Why?" I asked her as she pulled out her phone and sent a quick text.
"So that I can stay here, chill, and watch movies with you," she told me with a small smile. "Consider it our first date."
"Our first date?" I asked with a smile, watching her nod slightly.
"The first of many."
