This Saturday both Ethan and Ally had blown off their friends. Yes, Natasha was furious but who cares he tells himself, it’s not like they’re together. On Allison’s part, Macy was more than understanding, hinting to her that something might be in the mix. But she refuses to tell herself that, ignoring every subtle hint that Macy throws at her.

“Can you stop!” Allison yells at Macy after so much nagging “Ethan McKnight is not and never will be someone I will like! Just two weeks ago, we were arguing and wanting to dug each other’s eyes out.” Macy smile.

“You could not have said it better than me. ‘TWO WEEKS AGO!’ HELLO! This is not two weeks ago, this is today and there are many future days that you and Ethan..”

“Macy! Don’t you even dare say it!” she yells at her best friend “hell, don’t you even dare think it! There is no way in hell! And stop looking at me with that damn smile!”

“Ok! But I’ll be the first one to tell you ‘I told you so!”

“Oh c’mon you can’t judge the guy, all he was doing was protecting himself, not t mention that Hester had ask him to keep quiet.” Ethan argues.

“That may be so, but he wasn’t really doing it for her, he was doing out of shame, shame that he even made contact with her because it was not what his friends, his colleagues expected of him. The men in this era are no different from the men that are in society today. Selfish, and way overconfident.” They had been going this argument for a long time. Of course it was on the basis of the project but somehow to both of them it feels more personal, maybe because both of them can identify with the characters but each had a different viewpoint, but none wanted to compromise.

“Wait how is he overconfident? Why can’t you say it’s Hester’s fault for seducing him? No right? Because women are always so quick to judge. She was the one that seduced him, or are you going to argue that she did the right thing. Dead husband or not, there were never proof so she should not have been a whore and should have stayed to herself”

“I never said it wasn’t part of her fault, but it takes two to tango. Why was he such a hypocrite? Criticizing people and yet your doing the same thing? Are you kidding me?He was a priest! That should say it all. It’s repeated time and time again, the man never admits to be in love with the shun woman, while in many literature she gives up everything to be with the man.” She says angrily, because Allison had seen it time and time again, girl fall for boy and boy say ‘sorry I got bigger and better things to worry about’.

Ethan noticed it, why the hell is she so bitter. “Why do hate boys so much, one broke your heart?” he asks softly. She looked at him calmly but he sees it. The flaming anger in her eyes.

“No, if you must know I’ve never dated.” What? Ethan thinks to himself. What is this, Amish country land?

“But you’re seventeen?’

“What’s your point?”

Ethan still behooved at her confession “Never?”

“Nope”

“Ever-Ever?”

“Ok, stop rubbing it in” She says in a laugh.

“Well no wonder you hate guys!” he jokes with a laugh.

“I don’t hate guys!” she retaliates. “I just don’t throw myself at them”

“Riiiight!”

“I’m serious” she tries to convince him. “Look, I’m just not like the girls you know, you wouldn’t understand, I don’t go around looking for boys to throw myself at.” She says as she picks herself up and gets her bag to leave. Ethan follows after her, once they reach the main door of the house, she says, “Bye, I’ll see you at school.”

“I’ll take you”

“To school?” she asks dumfounded and surprised.

“Well if you want me to start taking you to school, I’m going to need at least 20 bucks a week” he jokes. “Gas don’t come cheap you know! But seriously, I’ll take you home” he offers.

“No, its fine, I can walk. It’s only a block” she says, not allowing herself to admit that she had the upmost desire to be around him. Gosh is she being stupid. Is she really thinking that! She needs a good slap upside the head. He shakes his head, indicating he isn’t going to give up so easily.

“c’mon I’m taking you home, and no backtalk” he warns as he takes his keys out his right pocket and both of them head to the car.

The car ride had barely lasted two minutes home before Ethan reaches Allison’s house. But he couldn’t help but notice that her house lights were off and concluded that she was going to be home alone. “No one home?” he asks.

“No, my mom went to her girls night, so it’s just me. Well thanks for the ride”

“You gonna be alright”

“Yeah, no one is going to strangle me” she jokes, and Ethan laughs at her.

“You shouldn’t assume that reef, you never know I might even be the killer.” Ethan jokes

Allison lets herself out the blue Jeep and opens the door to her house, she turns around to still find Ethan’s car still park waiting for her to enter. She waves and he waves back and speeds out the driveway. The house is empty and dark as she enters. She flicks the light on and sees a note on the dining room table. It’s from her mother and she picks it up to read ‘went to girls group, hope you had fun on your date. Love mom’ date? She thinks I went on a date? She thinks to herself. With Ethan? Had her mother not been listening to her for the past year? Ethan and her could never date. That possibility is like saying that is none in a million.

Allison decided not to let the her mother’s note bother her but it did. What gave her that idea? Granted that Ethan has been coming over, but that’s only because of the project. Lost in her mind, the ring of her makes her jump from her bed. Probably Macy texting her about ‘Ethan’. But it’s not Macy. The person that texted her was Ethan.

So, are you dead yet” the text reads. Allison found herself smiling at the text and quickly answers back.

Yeah, right now I’m being chopped up and place into baggies” she looks at the text, not nervous of what it said, but who she was sending it to. Ethan McKnight! Why? And why was she so scared, she forced herself to hint send quickly throws her phone away from her. When the phone rings again indicating another text, she found herself nervous to respond. But she found the courage to open it.

Lol. Well, for the record I wouldn’t kill you

“That’s good to know Knight, for a second there you had me a little worried that you would be putting me in a black bag”

“Ha-ha! You always think the worst things about me”

“Ha-ha, no I don’t!”

“Or maybe its boys in general that you hate”

“I don’t hate boys!”

“Whatever Reef, you need to start getting sweet on boys, I mean you cant start senior year without being kissed” at that moment Allison’s heart stops…completely.
