Allison puts her car and drives and pulls out of the parking lot. The main library is only ten minutes away, and hopefully, since no one is out from work yet, there will be no traffic. The ride with Ethan is silent, her being especially thankful for it. But he breaks it.

“Is your car new?” he asks out of the blue. She eyes him, not knowing what to think or say. Not knowing if an insult was soon to follow. “Gosh bro, I’m just trying to make conversation.” Ally was torn, deciding to ignore him or actually acknowledge that he is in the car with him.

“Mmhn-mmnh” she says shaking her head. “Got it before school started, why?

“No, I think it’s nice. I mean… yeah it’s nice,” he says with a slight smile. Ethan did drive. And his car in fact is brand new like Ally’s. He had gotten it after giving his younger brother his blue Chevy truck that he owned last year. Now he owns a brand new four passenger black Jeep. “But you drive slow” he insult with a smug laugh.

“Oh, I’m sorry big shot, I don’t use my driving to prove my manhood, since I’m not one” she says with a smug scoff. He looks at her, oh that’s how she wants to play?

“No, your not a man, but you could pass for one” That hurts. What in the world is wrong with him? She sighs a big sigh.

“Whatever, you’re just a jerk.”

“Only when you’re a bitch,” he retorts.

“Me?” she asks in a surprise as they pull towards the library’s parking lot.

“No me” he says sarcastically before saying “Yeah, you”

Libraries are quiet for a reason

Ethan and Allison sat at their table. Laptops, magazines, theology articles, pen and papers in front of them arguing the conflict of Dismdale and Hester. The conflict of the puritan’s beliefs and the hypocrisy of the inhabitants. They had yet to decide their topic for the project. “What if we do it on the changes of expectations of that time period and today?” Ethan asks. That actually isn’t a bad idea.

“You mean how decision are based on the influence of society?” she ask, surprised that he had come up with the idea.

“Yeah… like how people date the people they are expected to date!” Ethan exclaims.

“That’s such a great idea, we could even use the highschool and the cliques as examples.”

“Yeah I guess”

Allison looks at Ethan brightly, well what do you know she thinks to herself. Ethan McKnight has a brain. “I’m surprise at you Knight, who would have taught you had it in you” she says jokingly. This time Ethan, did not know why but he was happy that she taught that about him and gave her a warm smile and say

“Well you know, I have my moments” and they both burst into laughter, while the librarian hurries their ways signaling that they were way too loud.

“We're so sorry, it wont happen again.” Allison reassures the older woman sporting a mean scowl. Gosh, people did not exaggerate when they said that librarians took the quiet of their library too seriously.

“Well it better not young lady, or else” she says and walks away, her dull gray colored suit, detached from her slim body.

“You see what you did?” Ethan scolded jokingly.

“Me?” Allison asks with a smile.

“Yeah you! But c’mon we have to go, I have practice this afternoon” Ethan says softly.

“Yeah, sure. Lets go”

The next day, Allison walks inside of the school with a mysterious happiness; even she did not know the reason. But hey she thought, it’s a good way to start the day. She walks into her homeroom and sees Ethan seating in his seat, his head engaged in his phone. Her heart skips a beat. What the hell? She thinks but quickly assume it is because of the anxiety of the test she had to take on second block. She shakes it off and heads over to Macy. “You look happy today!” Macy says in a cheerful voice.

“Well that’s because I am happy!” Ally responds.

“And to you care to tell me the reason?”

Ally thinks of the response. “Truthfully, I don’t know”

During block four, Ally chance into her gym clothes, sporting her green NikeFit spandex and a yellow tank top. Today is football, and to find her doom, it is girls against boys, and these animals played hard; Even if it is just for gym. She walks out the locker room with Macy and follows the trail that lead outside to the field. As she walks out, spots Ethan, only in his shorts. One of his friends calls to the girls as almost al the boys wore nothing to protect their upper body. “Like what you like ladies?” and all the girls started on a giggling frenzy. Both Ally and Macy look at each other and roll their eyes. These girls are just to gullible. “Well if you do” his friend Josh says “You can touch all you like” and all the boys cheered. “Except Allison, she bite” he finishes. Everyone burst into laughter. Ethan joined in. she looks at josh, analyzing his awkward body

“Look Josh,” Allison start “I get that you insecurities about yourself, I mean you at you, scrawny, bony, no girlfriend, no experience, and I get that your little group bothers you because you’re the loser, but it isn’t my fault. So don’t use me to try to rove something that you can never be.” Allison responds, pissed that this stupid boy thinks he can just say whatever he pleased to her. Josh pissed walks to Allison, and stands tall in front of her to intimidate.

Ethan watch his friend’s action. Josh can be a lo of this but he would never hit a girl but before he could finish his toughts, his friend shoves Allison to ground. He didn’t think, but launched at his friend, puching him blow after blow. Ethan did not know why he had the rage, but he knows that this bastards deserves it. he feels himself being pulled away from Josh. Allison runs to him in n instant , taking his face in her hand. “Oh my God Ethan, are you okay?” Allison says into his face. Ethan lips held a cut, blood gushing out his lips. He moves his face away from her hands.

“I’m fine!” he yells. And Allison backs away.

“I’m sorry ok! But we need to get you to the nurse.” Allison approaches him again and takes his hand. the security guard escort them to the nurse. “Both of you needs to go to the principle’s office”

“let’s see what we have here Mr. McKnight” the nurse says as she leans Ethan’s head back to place the small cotton alcoholic swab. Ethan finches at the sting. Crap, why the hell did I step up for her, he asks himself. Now I’m screwed! He sees her in the corner of his eyes. Her beautiful black hair covering her eyes. The green spandex attached to her body. god damn it! why the hell is he thinking about that. He should have never stepped in, because it was not his battle to fight. “You can go now, the principal is waiting for you too.” Ethan curses under his breath.
