THIRD PERSON:

Y/N lightly pulled on her dog's leash as the animal kept fighting against her on going back inside. "Come on, Brownie! I really need to finish my twenty page essay that's due tomorrow."

Instead of the dog obeying, he began to bark at something behind his owner. Y/N spins around to see what her huge pet was yapping about, and she was met with her best friend, Dave. He lifts his hand, sending a small wave before walking over to Y/N and the brown doggy.

"Hey there bud," Dave pats the animal's head, causing the dog to wag his tail even faster. "Has Y/N been treating you well? I will beat her up if she isn't."

"Haha very funny," The girl chuckles sarcastically as she glares at her friend. "But last time I checked, I was the person who actually won our mini boxing match."

Dave stands up from the green grass, playfully rolling his eyes at Y/N. "You sure are really proud of winning that first match. The first that you beat me in only once my dear friend, if I must admit."

"I hate you with a passion, mister." She crosses her arms, pouting like a little child since she knew he was stating the truth.

"I love you too," Dave smiles, his hands sinking down in his jean pockets. "I was wondering if we could talk about something- like now?"

Y/N tugs on the leash again as Brownie he begins to bark obnoxiously at a family across the street. "Can we talk later actually? I really need to get him inside before he attacks someone and plus I need to finish up my essay for English class."

Dave sighs, his eyes flashing back and forth between Y/N and the houses behind her. "Yeah sure, text me when your done."

With that he storms off, leaving his friend slightly confused at his sudden change of attitude towards her. Shrugging it off, Y/N and Brownie head back into the house, right beside Dave's. Once Brownie is free from his leash, he dashes off from Y/N and into the living room where all his squeaky toys were kept.

"How are you and your boyfriend doing? I just saw you guys talking on the front lawn." Mason, your older brother, teased as he typed away on his phone.

"Spying is not attractive to most girls, Mas." Y/N huffs, furrowing her eyebrows together. "And he's not my boyfriend, we're best friends which you should know by now."

Mason scoffs, rolling his eyes. "Whatever. Keep believing that, baby sis."

The teenage girl groans at her brother's stupidity as she makes her way back up to her bedroom, dreading to complete her twenty page essay. She flops on her bed, opening her laptop and loading up the essay, which loaded within seconds. Y/N eyes widen once she sees the amount of words the paper had typed.

"Great job, Y/N. One hundred words and like ten thousand more words to go." She whispered to herself, mentally throwing a temper tantrum before she began to type away on the word doc.

To pass the time, Y/N does every small thing to keep her occupied from not falling asleep. From blasting music from her Bluetooth speaker to munching on a few small snacks and taking tiny two minutes breaks to basically stalk her celebrity crush on google, she ends up finishing the English essay.

Her old fashion alarm clock read eleven-forty-nine and she began to debate whether or not she should text Dave since he wanted to talk earlier. Going with her gut, she grasps a hold onto her phone and began to message Dave, the text box instantly popping up once she sent her message.

Pop your head out your window (:

She read, then got up from her comfortable laying position to go over to window. Opening up the curtains, Y/N is met with Dave who already had his head out, ready to talk.

"What's up, pal? You wanted to talk earlier and it seemed sort of urgent." She teases once she manages to slide up her old creaky window.

A stressful and exaggerated sigh escapes his lips, his eyes coming in contact with hers. "You remember how I told you about a girl that I met at the party last weekend?"

Y/N bites her lip as she thought about how she didn't want Dave to bring up this subject again, but she nodded in reply for him to continue.

"Well, I think I'm falling in love with her."

As that simple, yet heartbreaking sentence slips from Dave's mouth, Y/N could feel her heart shattering into a million pieces. It would be a lie if Y/N didn't admit that she has been in love with her best friend since the fourth grade. For Dave to say that he had fallen in love with a girl he has literally only known for a week made her eyes brim with tears, but she needed to blink them away so he wouldn't get suspicious.

"Hey, you still with me buddy?" Dave's light laugh causes her to break out of her trance.

She nodded once more, "Sorry, what did I miss?"

"I was thinking about asking her to be my girlfriend. She makes me feel alive and I just want to be able to call her mine." The boy says, grinning ear to ear. "So, what do you think? Should I make a move?"

"If she makes you happy then go for it, dude." Y/N fakes a small smile, knowing her words made her friend feel even more delighted.

"Okay thanks, I'll go ask her now." He says.

"Wait," Y/N stops the excited boy in his tracks. "It's going on midnight...she's probably asleep, don't you think?"

Dave shakes his head vigorously. "We were just texting before I came to speak to you, meaning she should still be awake at the moment."

"Alrighty, go work you're magic then." She laughs, but deep down she was hurting and her own friend didn't even notice.

Dave chuckles then shuts the window and closes his curtains, and Y/N does the same thing with hers. Once she closes and locks it, she hops on her bed, her head face down in the sheets as she lets out uncontrollable sobs. She flips over, her puffy eyes meeting with the glow in the dark tiny stars on the ceiling. Her sobs become muffled as she clasps her hand over her mouth, her eyes shut, letting all the emotions spill out. Y/N couldn't take the fact that Dave never felt same way for her like he felt for Jane or the girl he literally met a week ago.

Those three words echo in her mind as she realizes that he fell in love with a girl that he's only know for a week. They've been best friends since the first grade and not once did Dave ever figure out that Y/N started to fall for him in the forth grade. Jane and that girl are the definition of perfection in his eyes while Y/N is just there- just his number one buddy who stuck by him whenever, wherever.

All her emotions bundle up into one as her mind registers on the fact of what she really meant to Dave. Invisible...and that's all she will ever to be him because he'll never feel the same way about her.

However, Dave was in his bedroom doing a silent little jig as he read the same text over and over from his now girlfriend, saying yes to be his.
