The rest of the week went on with no signs of Andrew. He was officially terminated from the position and Rochelle was already interviewing for a replacement. I was honestly pretty upset about his disappearance, especially since we ended on bad terms. I wish things were better between us.
After work I decided to just drive to his house. If I show up in person he has no choice but to face me. When I arrive his car isnt in the driveway, but I wanted to knock anyways. I walk quickly to the door and knock louldy about five times.
No Answer. I ring the doorbell a couple times and still get no answer. Letting out a big sigh, I knock once more. Hoping for any type of movement or sound. But I get nothing.
I angrily march over to a window and I get close to the glass and cup around my eyes to see better. I look around for Andrew, hoping to see him walking towards the door. But I see nothing. In fact, I see nothing at all. I stand back and gasp. All of his stuff is gone! There is no furniture, inside of his regularly bare house.
I plop down on the steps by the front door and sigh heavily. Andrew is really gone. He left without a goodbye, or an explanation. Now I feel a heavy weight on my chest and a ball forming in my throat.
"This cant really be happening." I say to myself.
Without preparation, tears start rapidly falling from my eyes. I curl down and hold my knees close to me while I let out the slight sadness I felt for the Missing Andrew. Where could he be? I dont understand. Any of this. Its all so confusing.
After about 20 minutes, I finally begin making my way back home. Its not worth waiting here if nobody else is here. The car ride seemed extra silent, I wasnt playing any music and my cars engine sounded quieter than usual. My breathing was soft, and all I heard was the slight breeze from my window being rolled down.
When I arrive at my apartment, I lazily walk toward my door. When it comes into view my eyes fall on the floor and I stop dead in my tracks. My eyes stay locked on the nicely wrapped present on my welcome mat. I move closer, but my mind was standing as far away as possible. No information just a messily written, Kristy.
Hesitantly, I grab the box and walk inside my apartment. Before doing anything, I rip open the wrapping paper and pull off the cardboard lid. When I look inside, I just see plain manilla folder. Ones you would find in an office or desk drawer. I pick up the top one and notice papers inside of it. No a lot, probably about 3 pages. I open the file and my eyes land on a picture of a man, with all his information next to it. I look at the picture and grow instantly nauseous.
The picture was of the man that was taking me home that night at Haydee's. The man that got shot right next to me. My eyes automatically travel to his name, Johnson Mayer. Guilt and sorrow fill my heart as the terrible night replays in my head. Then heartbreak follows when I realize Andrew helped me that night. He helped me feel better.
I couldnt help but read more information about Johnson. Turns out he was incharge of a big human trafficing system and some really fucked up drug ring. I almost went home with that guy! Shock fills my body, and I feel less guilt in my heart. This man was a horrible being, and he honestly deserved to die.
I close the file and move onto the next one, its a woman. She also had really messed up things written about her. I continues looking through the files. They were all basically information on really terrible people.
Why do I have it?
When I finish going through all of them, I set them back into the box and place them next to the box of newspapers I got a couple days ago. I have no idea who sent these, or why they sent them. But I didnt really care.
What I really cared about was Andrew. Where on earth is he? Its been two weeks. No hints as to where he might be. Nothing. It was really starting to devistate me. What if he never comes back? What if I never see him again?
