Chapter 10: Party Prep and the Big Night
Zach’s POV
Court had met two more people from the pack. Her birthday was only two days away. Kelly and I were planning. We started prepping the house. We just kept it clean. I had invited all of Courtney’s pack and mine. To my surprise everyone in Court’s pack had agreed to come. Everybody was prepared with clothes and dresses. Kelly had checked to make sure everyone in Court’s pack had a dress or a suit. She even went with some of the girls. The only person who wasn’t ready was Court. On the day of her birthday I woke her up. She had spent the previous day with Kelly and me.
“Wakey wakey!” I called loudly. She jumped up and sat up. Her hair sat on top of her head like a haystack. She yawned and turned to me.
“Morning Zach,” she said.
“Guess what today is,” I say.
“Um is it-“she started with a smile. The door suddenly flew open.
“YOU’RE BIRTHDAY!” Kelly yelled loudly finishing sentence. Court grinned. “So guess what we are doing today,” Kelly said sitting on the edge of Court’s bed.
“And what’s that Kell?” Court asks.
“I’m taking you shopping!”
“Oh no,” Court moaned.
“Come on it’ll be fun. We can get you some tank tops and maybe some shoes, a fancy party dress,” Kell mumbled the last part.
“What was that?” Court asks.
“I said maybe some summer dresses,” Kell lies with a grin.
“I’m really not into shopping,” Court says.
“I don’t care. This is your birthday present from me,” Kell winks.
“Fine,” Court throws her hands up in surrender.
“I’ll be all alone for five hours,” I sigh.
“Five?” Court exclaims.
“Kell always takes at least five hours shopping by herself. Now she’s got you to shop for too.”
“Oh god,” Court groaned.
“It’ll be great. We’ll shop, grab lunch, and do something about your hair,” Kell listed.
“What’s wrong with my hair?” Court asks brushing back her bangs.
“Well right now… Everything,” Kelly says. Court glances in the mirror.
“I see,” she mumbles.
“We should go to the spa! Facials, manicures, and pedicures! I bet they would do something about your hair,” Kelly says getting excited.
“Fine,” Court grumbles.
“Alright, Courty, shower and I'll make you a huge breakfast,” I tell her.
“If Zach makes you a huge breakfast we gotta go by the gym for at least an hour,” Kelly tells Court.
“NO!” Court yells.
“Fine but we’ve got to run the park a few times,” Kelly tells her. Court rolled her eyes. She had a long day and a long night ahead of her. We had let her sleep in until eleven. By the time she got out of the shower it was almost twelve. I made her chocolate chip pancakes and turkey bacon. Kelly quickly gobbled down an apple and a slice of toast. She claimed she didn’t want any pancakes. Kelly was bringing her mate, Jason, to the party. I had invited Zoe but of course she declined. I pushed Zoe out of my mind. This was Court’s day. I knew she was going to find her mate. I could feel it.
