I woke up for my first morning at Hogwarts of the year.
Yawning, I slipped on my robes, did my hair, and put on a bit of make up.
Almost in a trance, I dragged myself into the Great Hall and grabbed a bagel. I ate moodily, pouting and grumbling about how it sucked to wake up so early. Draco laughed at me, which made me glare at him, and eat more.
Professor McGonagall passed through the ranks of eating teenagers, handing 1st-4th years their schedules. The 5th years sat nervously in their seats, waiting in anticipation for the moment after breakfast when they would get approved for their Newt schedules. All the older kids floated above it all, filling out their own schedules with classes that they had been attending since forever.
As I finished my bagel, I grabbed my satchel full of books, and marched on to Potions.
I stormed down the halls glaring 1st years out of my path. I generated an aura of anger and annoyance. When I arrived at the entrance, I tapped my foot impatiently, waiting for Slughorn to open the door.
God. Everything was so annoying today.
When I was surrounded by legions of sweaty 18 year olds, the door finally opened, and I rushed inside.
"Hello Class!" Slughorn said cheerfully.
Shut up!
"How are you doing this fine day?"
It was one of those days.
Everyone's voices were like nails on a chalkboard.
The light was too bright.
The sounds were too loud.
The feelings were too intense.
My whole being just wanted to scream and lay in bed all day.
I just decided to tune everything out.
Until, I heard that dreaded word come out of Slughorn's mouth.
It was like slow motion.
The word hurt my ears.
"Partners."
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Why me!
I waited to hear my name.
Oh please be someone good. Please. Please. Please.
"L/n you will be with..."
Please, please, please.
"Potter."
I breathed a sigh of relief.
At least I wasn't Seamus Finnagin.
Potter understood that I hadn't wanted the dark mark.
He was one of the few who did.
But today I couldn't deal with him.
"Hey Y/n! How's it going?"
I snarled.
"Stow it Potter! I'm not in a good mood. Make yourself useful and go grab some dragon powder."
I sighed. This was going to be a long day.
