"Let's see what you got girl." Alex stalked me, ready to pounce any second.

"I haven't got any special moves if that's what you mean, I don't know how to trigger my powers." He threw his head back, laughing as if I was telling a lie.

"You're joking, right? What about all those sick moves that you pulled when you saved our asses out in the woods?" His cocky smile faded, along with his laughs.

"I don't know how I did that, and I don't even know what happened." Abi stepped forward and stood a few feet away from me.

"Close your eyes, you need to think of those you want to protect. Let your mind wander to the dark corners it holds, don't stop it. Let the energy that you feel flow throughout your body free, you've had it locked up for a long time. You'll feel lightheaded until you know how to control it." I took it upon myself to listen and do as she says. As I close my eyes my mind wanders to my parents, if only I was strong enough and if I tried harder I could've saved them. If I wasn't so weak, people wouldn't have to die for me. I could feel it, it felt as if someone lit me on fire. I opened my eyes again, just like before I could detect everybody's heat signatures. But there was something more this time, I was filled with uncontrollable rage and I couldn't stop it. I pounce Alex, tackling him to the ground. Everybody scrambled to pull me off of the defenseless man now pinned to the ground, with a cloud of dust still lingering in the air.

"Alex grab her!" I felt two hands roughly grab my arms and the flashbacks hit me like a brick. With one swift movement, his body slammed into a tree. The power that I hold is too strong. I don't want to hurt anybody else, my vision blurred as I struggled to get on my feet. I can't stay here, I can't hurt the people I hold dear to my heart. I stare at my hands, feeling the burning slowly drain from my body.

"I knew you'd find a way to keep it at bay." Abi squeezed my hand, then continued to inspect the damage I caused.

"They didn't deserve that, I can't do this. You three are the last people I'd want to hurt."

"There's something about us that you don't know about." She waved her hand, signaling for me to help Alex stand up, he groaned in protest. Both the men dusted themselves off as if what happened a few minutes ago didn't phase them.

"We have powers too, we heal incredibly fast. That doesn't mean we're immortal though, any severe damage to certain parts of our body will kill us." Okay, Abi definitely didn't tell me about any of this last time we had a serious talk.

"So guardians do have tricks up their sleeve huh? why didn't you tell me this before I almost beat a man to death!" Anger sizzled beneath my skin, slowly inhaling I keep my anger under control.

"They insisted." They both gave each other funny looks, I glared at the two of them but they responded with a shrug. These assholes will get themselves killed like this. Max opened his arms, expecting a hug.

"Don't stick your tongue out at me like that, or I'll have to do something about it," my mouth fell open.

"Keep it in the bedroom kids, we have work to do. So no more messing around." I nudged Abi irritated with what she was assuming.

"Teach me, please." I might as well do something good with the powers that I possess, why else would I have them? A second later I was swept up in a bear hug by the motherly Abi.

"Why else would we be here Athena? We didn't just come here to get you out, we came here to be the friends and family that you need." The four of us went back to the cottage for some lunch, my powers sucked me dry. I was the first person to enter, and I was met with the gruesome sight of Mr. Moore. The wounds around his wrists were fresh, still dripping with blood. I could tell he pulled and yanked the metal chain until it cut down to the bone. I hurry inside knowing well that it could potentially turn bad but I have to protect the others.

"Happy to see me, bitch." He  sprints towards me and before I have time to react he plunges a kitchen knife into my chest, as I stagger back Max burst through the front door. His mind was set to kill, but this was my fight. I shook my head, I saw how much he struggled as he stepped away. Max stopped the other two that came running to my side obviously concerned about my health. My fingers graze the handle of the knife and in one quick movement, I pull the blade from my chest. My mind said kill, but my heart said torture.

"You'll regret finding me when I'm done with you." In the blink of an eye, I had a fistful of Mr. Moore's hair in my hand, slamming his face down onto the marble countertop. Anger poisoned my veins and revenge clouded my mind. I felt the heat, it was becoming unbearable. My vision turned red, literally. Looking down at the man that ruined my life, my hands became hot. They glowed crimson, like molten lava. The next thing I know I'm scorching his skin and his hair is going up in flames in the palm of my hand.

"Demon!" Mr. Moore managed to spill the last word that would ever be heard from him again. I grab him by the neck and slam him up against the wall. Looking into his eyes and seeing his life drain from his body I hold the blade in my hand until it's glowing red. Leaning in closer so he could hear me, I whisper the very last words he'll ever hear.

"I told you, you'd regret this, see you in hell motherfucker." I lodge the knife through his heart, scorching it with the hatred I felt for him. His mouth fell open and his body became limp. I toss him aside and focus on calming down. After a few seconds my hands go back to how they were before. Turning around I was met with a new pair of gazing eyes, they were pitch black. The whites of his eyes weren't visible it. He was shirtless with black jeans that hung low, too low. Leaning on the door frame smiling, brushing back his black hair. Abi stood stiffly beside him, not moving an inch.

"Looks like you have everything under control." His voice was deep and his presence was enough to make me want to cower away. I wanted the ground to open up and eat me alive.

"Looks can deceive, you must be Abigor?" I laced my words with as much courage as I could muster.

"It's about damn time Athena, I've been trying to come through for ten years." He took a few steps toward me and did something that caused a gasp to escape from everybody's lips except my own.
