Chapter 16: The Goodbye

-1 week later-

{M}

"You sure you didn't leave anything behind here?" He heard Autumn say.

"I'm sure, mom," he replied sarcastically.

"Sorry for being concerned about the possibilities that could happen if you did leave something behind."

"Like what?"

"Like, what if you left a pair of boxers here or something, and some crazed fan sees it and sells it?" She chuckled lightly as she closed the hotel room door.

"Right now, I'm debating about if you would be the seller or the buyer of them," he smirked. Autumn playfully slapped his arm. "Ow! Hey, no need to get so brutal."

He trudged behind Autumn as she walked towards the elevator.

"Hurry up, slowpoke."

"I would actually appreciate it if somebody helped me with my suitcases," he laughed. He looked down at the 4 huge bags under his arm. She laughed back as she grabbed 2 of them.

The two extra weeks Michaell had asked for ended so quickly. He wanted to stay longer with Autumn, to comfort her more -although she is doing so much better than last time-, to hug her a lot of more times, but he couldn't. He had to go.

He tried to make the most out of the last moments they had together, in which he thinks he succeeded in. He was glad Autumn was feeling way better. At least he was able to cheer her up somehow.

They headed for the car, which was located at the back of the hotel. He needed to get outt without causing a commotion or riot, because he has a tendency of doing so. Surprisingly -not really- the fans and media found out he was coming from the back. The place was completely swarmed by people; there were probably a thousand people just waiting for him to come out and mob him.

He suddenly felt a tight hold around his arm. He looked back to see Autumn looking petrified. He couldn't blame her; he was terrified of this situation himself. More and more people came, and the screams were getting louder every second. Throughout his whole life he had been exposed to this, ye he still couldn't get used to it.

Michael's bodyguards came and surrounded both Michael and Autumn as they tried to make a run for it. The ear-deafening screams had gotten louder when they stepped out, which he didn't know was possible.

They walked slowly and carefully after a while deciding that they might someone while running. Michael suddenly felt Autumn's hand tense on his arm.

"It's okay, we're okay. We're getting closer to the car now," he whispered.

"It's not that," she replied. Michael looked at her.

"Are you okay?"

"No. I saw him."

"Who?"

"Josh," she said. Michael quickly turned around, and sure enough, he is there, looking directly at them with a giddy, devilish smile on his face. He then just winked at both of them and walked away.

"What the hell was that about?"

---

"Do you want me to promise that I'll write letters to you again?" He smirked at her.

"Oh please, you'd only break it again."

"Shut up, it wasn't my fault."

As he was about to board the plane, he felt a hand grab his wrist. He turned around and saw a teary-eyed Autumn. He can't help but feel so sad for her. She must be feeling so alone lately, without her mother and Maria to keep her company.
