Chapter 11: The Thoughts
{A}
Autumn walked the crowded streets if New York, her hair slightly wet from the short drizzle a little while ago. Why did Michael have to leave the hospital early anyway? They probably just could have taken a cab or something, but no.
Something didn't seem right though. Michael seemed like he was avoiding her all of a sudden. Was he mad at her or something? Maybe he's bipolar. She had read that (thanks to the medical medicines lying around at the table of the doctors' waiting rooms) is a common mental illness, and that bipolar people have troubles and complications with controlling their emotions and thoughts, may they be the positive ones or negative ones.
But Michael couldn't be bipolar. He had not acted this way before, just now. He didn't look mad, nor stressed. He just.. couldn't look at her in the eyes. did she do something wrong? She hoped not. Michael was probably just one of her few trusted friends. She did not want to lose him. Not again.
Or maybe she was just being too clingy. Maybe he just had to do something important, like sorting and fixing the tour dates of his Bad tour after stopping it for about two weeks. Until when was he going to stay here anyway? He can't just stay here forever.
Autumn pushed these thoughts away, going with the last idea, that he just had to do something important. She had more problems to deal with, like how Maria has been becoming paler and paler each day. She couldn't just lose her. Maria is family. She could not just let another of her loved one leave her. She wouldn't be able to cope up with the pain.
Maria is pretty smart and clever for a nine-year-old. When Autumn met her, she knew she was going to stand out from all of the kids. She knew she was different, A good different, though. Maria taught her a whole lot of new facts and information about things she never even knew before. Then there was her childish side, where she would just smile at the simplest of things, though the biggest smile -well, more of a smirk- was when she was talking to Michael. His face just expressed the shock he received from talking to a brilliant child. She made such a big impact to them, both her and Michael.
Michael. Why does she keep diverting her thoughts to him? What did he ever do to her to make her think of him often? Maybe even more than often, practically all the time. She was probably just missing his companionship. He is quite a nice and humorous guy. Yeah, she's either just very clingy or she was going mentally insane.
But this time, she didn't even try to stop her thoughts about him. She just thought about how much of a caring person Michael actually is. He stopped his whole tour momentarily -though a lot of fans were disappointed, but they were still very supportive and patient- just to go see his old, deceased, and probably favorite teacher. Like, for a second she was just listening to his music, the next second he was there, in her mom's funeral service.
She thought about how thoughtful he was when he ran after her for -according to him- two hours. He even let her cry on his extremely expensive blazer. Plus he did beat up that drunk guy who tried to practically kidnap her. God, was she ever so thankful for that.
And of course, she wouldn't forget how he defended her on national, no wait, worldwide television. It was partly embarrassing, but she felt pretty glad and happy about it. Nobody ever did that for her. She didn't expect the biggest popstar at the moment would suddenly just push a guy just to defend her.
Then when she opened up to him. It was such a painful moment at first, to open up about every single bittersweet memory, but he was right. It did make her feel better. it felt like a thousand of burdens and difficulties just dropped from her shoulders.
