Jin and Eunji sat across from each other and chatted as the rest of BTS sat across the room. Namjoon was reluctant to go over there. He didn't want to ruin the date, but Jin had put it on himself.
"Okay, so one thing you may want to know about me is..." she trailed off, gaining Jin's interest. He sat on the edge of his seat. "I..." he took her hands. "I have... a secret." She looked up at him, worry on her face.
"You can tell me." Jin said. He glanced over and Namjoon signaling for him not to get involved yet.
"I have a secret love for... 90's boy bands!" He let go of her hands and leaned back. They laughed and looked back at the menus.
"You worried me." Jin said with a grin on his face.
"No, It ain't no lie, baby bye bye bye!" she sang, trying to hold in her laugh.
"So," he said looking back up at her, "what are you getting?"
"Um, I don't know. Everything sounds great." she said. She paused, taking a sip of her hot chocolate. "and they all have funny names! I can't choose. I may just go with a salad." Jin put down his menu and booed her.
"Boring! Get something good. I pay, so don't worry." She smiled at him and shook her head.
"If I was worried about the money, I would go for soup. I'll get the cheapest salad and then we can split a dessert, okay?" She raised and eyebrow and took another sip of her drink, as he nodded and sipped his wine.
The group of boys who sat across the room chatted about what they may do to sabotage the date.
"I could put my foot on the table and compare Timberlands." Jungkook said looking at his feet.
"Let's go to them and see what happens." Taehyung said standing up. "Follow my lead." They all got up with their drinks and walked over. "Jin, bro! What is up?" Tae said patting Jin's back.
"Oh. Hey, Taehyung." Jin said with a small wave.
"Who is this?" Eunji looked over at the six boys stood around the table. Her heart was pounding. Her favorite Kpop group was basically surrounding her and across from her, still holding her hand, was the one she liked the most.
"Friends from work." Jin responded, glaring at Taehyung. Eunji tried to keep her cool as Taehyung pulled up a chair and sat down next to her. He draped his arm around her shoulder.
"I am Tae. Who are you?" he smiled at her.
"Oh! Um. I am Eunji. Hello. Nice to meet you." She took his arm off her shoulder and shook his hand.
"Do you mind if we join you guys?" Jimin said as he pulled up chairs for the rest of the guys.
"Great! Thanks man. You got the bill? Yeah you do! He is loaded!" Namjoon said ruffling Jin's hair. "Did you know that, Eunji? He's rich. Is that why you're here?" His smile faded and he looked Eunji in the eyes. She straightened up, confused. "I'm joking!" He reached over and took Jin's wine glass. There was a loud bang and Eunji's hot chocolate splashed onto Jungkook's leg, which was sitting on the table.
"You have pink Timbs?" he said, shyly as he removed his foot from the table.
"Um, yeah." she said picking her mug up from the table. She gave him a small smile and he looked away. The night continued on with the boys just being generally rude, but nothing that really upset Eunji. She enjoyed spending time with the group as a whole, but Jin didn't have as much fun as her. He really wanted it to be a nice and quiet evening, but he couldn't have that.
"So, Eunji." Namjoon started, "You seem like a great girl, so I have to ask you something.
"Yeah, what is it?" They all stood outside the restaurant in the snow.
"Um, actually Jin, would you please?" Namjoon scratched his nose, awkwardly. Jin looked at Eunji reluctantly.
"The date-" he was interrupted by Namjoon. He knew Jin didn't want to do this to her, so he decided to take the risk of looking like an asshole.
"It was recorded. Us being there was staged. We are a Kpop group: BTS. The date and meeting you was recorded and we were wondering, before we posted the video, if it was okay to show who you are. If not, it's fine. We can just censor it. We all have to do these dates, and Jin chose you." Eunji was in disbelief. How did she not see it? What were the odds that they just happened to show up at the same place without it being staged.
"Yeah, it's fine." Eunji turned away. "I'll watch the video when it's out, or something." She continued to walk away, snow crunching underneath her feet. Tears started to flow down her cheeks and onto the ground. If she didn't hurry, they would freeze to her face.
"Eunji, wait!" Jin called out as he chased her down. Eunji was at a bus stop, waiting to get picked up. She turned to Jin and rolled her eyes.
"I'll just call my roommate." she said as she got out her phone.
"Eunji-" She cut him off.
"I really don't want to talk to you right now. I thought that you actually liked me, but that was silly, you know? How could I think that?" Jin stepped closer.
"I do like you, Eunji." She put her hand up, silencing him.
"I don't want to hear it, Jin." She paused. "You know," she started glancing behind her shoulder to see if the bus was near. "I knew. I know who you are. Do you think it was a coincidence that I sang your songs? I just happened to know them? I thought that my dream had come true, but no. It didn't. You just played me." The tears started to fall again and she looked away.
"I'm sorry." She shook her head.
"Delete my number, Jin." He looked at her, sadly. He pulled and envelop out of his pocket.
"It may not mean anything, but we are giving two backstage passes to each girl." he said. She looked at the envelop and shook her head.
"No-" He thrusted the envelope towards her.
"Please," he started, "just take them. I know you must hate me, but please come. Bring a friend. I want you to be there." She took them out of his hand as the bus pulled up and got on, not looking back.
