Rain hits the window pane
and I imagine it’s you,
standing with a handful of thoughts
and a mind full of rocks.
I hear them,
ricocheting like bullets
off the window and into my dreams.
Sleep has never come easy
since you.
I prayed for a storm
to drown you out,
even though I know
my ears are only attuned
to your frequency
and I’m frequently tuning in.
I go out,
stand in puddles others would dance in.
But I’ve two left feet
and the weight of thoughts
bringing me down.
I saw a rainbow just now
and wondered if today
would be different.
