Happy Birthday, Anna.
Just wish you were here to celebrate it. You promised we would spend it together. I bought you a cake. Strawberry flavored. Just like how you love it. And I also found a perfect present for you. I asked mom to help me with wrapping it and she looked at me funny.
But eventually, she gave in and helped me with it. Mom's a kind woman, she just... she has her own issues like us. I didn't know that at first so I hated her for disliking you. While we were wrapping your present, she talked to me about you. She wasn't offensive and against you anymore.
Mom: Honey, about Anna...
Me: What about her?
Mom: She- I never wanted you to hate me, Connor. I love you. Because of that, I don't want you to get hurt. I thought all Anna was going to do is to hurt you. And after seeing how depressed you were over the past three months because she was gone, it pained me. And I hated her more. But now, I just... I know you love her. I'm sure she loved you too. I'm sorry I couldn't tell you that earlier. I'm sorry that Anna's gone.
Me: ...
Mom: I'm really sorry.
Me: I know, mom. Thank you.
You would've been so happy knowing this.
I miss you, Anna and I love you. I hope you like the present I picked out for you.
And again, Happy Birthday, Anna.
Connor.
