Chapter Three:
I stared again at Mrs. Anderson, too speechless to say anything. I can feel her anticipation as she waits for me to respond. She sounded like she was making a request though, not a command but I can feel that what she said is beyond that.
I laughed hysterically after twenty seconds of not being able to speak. She raised her eyebrows and tapped her pen nervously on the table. This has got to be the biggest joke of the year.
“Are you fucking serious? This is so funny.” Then I laughed again. It’s been awhile since I laughed like this. Soon, students were crowding on the window of the principal’s office. Remind me again why they installed windows in the fucking room if they minded about privacy? Stupid idea and it’s no wonder that people here in school are all stupid.
The crowd was getting their own surprise. Maybe it’s the first time they saw me laugh ever since I turned into a bad ass. I barely even smile.
Back when I was still a nerd, I used to laugh with Erich all the time. It’s been two years since I laughed like this in school and it’s all because of Mrs. Anderson’s request. Who is still in their right minds to make a request like that? I mean, seriously? Did she just said that?
“I’m dead serious, Keren.” Oh shit, she really is serious alright. She finally used first name basis. She always calls me Ms. Wilson and I don’t believe it when she called me by my first name. It’s, let’s just say, too normal.
“What if I won’t?” I challenged her. There’s no way I’m gonna do that. No way in heaven and definitely no way in hell. She gripped her pen tightly, clearly stating that she’s about to burst out. I half-smirked about that. It’s so easy getting everyone pissed off.
“Then you won’t get this opportunity.” She replied and I smirked at that. She couldn’t be that serious. I’m the top student in school and it’ll have to take 50 students to match off my memory capacity. I’m just that good and I hate being humble.
“I don’t care about a damn thing about this opportunity if you won’t give it to me whole-heartedly Mrs. Anderson. If you want to, just give it to some pathetic bastard who thinks they can match off my intellectual talent. But. . .” I stood up and move closer then placed both of my hands on the top of her desk. “I bet you’re not stupid enough to do that won’t you? Obviously, it’s clear enough that you want to win this contest that’s why you approached me in the first place even with my reputation. And now, you’re freaking telling me to quit being who I am? What a loser.” And with that, I turned around and stormed off. The people who were watching ran off after I opened the door to get out.
They can probably tell that I’m pissed off. Well, that’s a good thing I guess.
Two things are running in my mind right now. First is when I get home, my Mom probably have received a call from the school about me being impolite to the principal and then kick off my ass. Second is that if that freaking woman gives it to second top in the school, she’s clearly not in her right mind and I’m anticipating to see that humiliation planted on her face. It would be entirely her fault on our loss and that’s because she didn’t chose me which is the best decision to make.
