Alex POV
I had just woken up, and the time was seven o five. My whole body ached as I got up and back into my pilot uniform. I looked back at the bed and saw that Blake wasn't here, guess she already left. After I got ready for the day, I went out to the emerald forest to clear my head. As I was walking, I bumped into Ruby. She seemed a but in a hurry. "Oh, hey Ruby, what's up?" I asked her as she looked at me.

"I'm looking for Blake, have you seen her?!" She asked frantically as I shook my head.

"Not since last night, no." I said as she looked disappointed. "I'll be sure to tell her that you were looking for her though."

"Thank you, I really need to tell her something, tell her to meet me at the stadium." She said as she ran off. I kept walking towards the forest as I saw Jaune waiting outside his room.

"Hey Jaune, what's up?" I asked as he looked at me.

"Eh, not much. Except for the fact that Pyrrha is a fox faunas and is in heat." He said with a shutter.

"Let me guess, she asked you to help." I said as he shook his head.

"Yeah, not my best move." He said as he looked down.

"Trust me, I know what your talking about. Blake is in heat as well and made me help by force." I said as I shuttered a bit as well. "Anyways, I better get going." I said as I walked off after waving goodbye. "Later dude."

"Later." He said as we went our separate ways.

I had just gotten to a clearing as I took off my helmet and looked at it, remembering how I got HE.

Beginning Flashback
14 Year Old Alex POV
I was on HE's shoulder looking out towards the stars on the moonlit night. I was as tall as my dad at the time so I could easily fit into his jump-kit. We were having one of our normal conversations, as usual. "So what's it like to be a Titan?" I asked him.

"You feel like you have the weight do the world on your shoulders while you try to protect both your pilot and the civilians. It's a tough job, but we will do what we must to protect the innocent." He said as I smiled.

"You sound like a knight protecting their master and townsfolk." I said to him as he looked at me.

"I guess I do sound like one, but a knight isn't twenty tons of metal and doesn't carry a gun the size of a cart." He said as I laughed a bit.

"You take things way to seriously, you know that?" I said to him as he finished up. That's whence heard it, the sounds of jets as we looked up and saw the IMC fleet attacking. HE took me off his shoulder as we ran to the house. My two sisters and my mom were there as well as my dad. When we got there, he hugged me one last time before heading to the fight.

"Alright, I need you to stay inside and keep your mother and sisters safe. Your the man of the house until I get back. Can you do that?" He asked as I shook my head.

"Yeah." I said as he climbed into HE.

"Alright, take care. I'll be home soon!" He said one last time as him and HE went to fight.

It's been five hours and the battle was happening on the other side of the city. I got up and grabbed a rifle as my mother looked at me. "Alex, where are you going?" My mother asked with concern as my two sisters were up in their room.

"I'm gonna go look for dad." I said as my mother got up and looked at me as a tear rolled down her cheek before smiling and wiping it away.

"You really are just like him, you know that. You never give up whenever you got your mind set on something, and you two can be hella stubborn." She said before giving me one last hug. "Come home safe."

"I will mom." I said as I hugged her back before heading out the door. I soon started running to the city as I had several med kits and some ammo for my rifle. Dad had gotten me a G14 rifle for my tenth birthday when I told mom I wanted to go hunting. She was so happy that I wanted to get out of the house, but she was also worried that I might hurt myself or one of my sisters. When I got to the city, I saw a wounded soldier. She looked around my older sister, Emily's, age. Emily had just turned nineteen and I had ran over to help her. I had started patching her up and before long, she was fully fixed up but out cold. I hid her in one of the building as I moved on, helping soldier after soldier as I went. Once I got to the old shopping district, however, I saw him. HE, and he looked to be still functioning but heavily damaged. That's when he moved and got up a bit and opened his hatch, letting dad fall out. "Dad!" I shouted as I ran over to him. I looked him over and I knew that he wouldn't make it. A few tears ran down my face as I looked to see my dad dying and there was nothing I could do. That's when he coughed and pressed the side of his helmet.

"HE, transfer pilot authorization. Serial Number High Explosive 9798." He said as he grabbed hold of me. "Alex, take my jump-kit, fight to save your home. Do it for me." He said before falling limp. That was the last time I had ever seen my dad.

I had taken my dad's jump-kit off of him, leaving him in his normal clothes as I carried him to the outside of the district and placed him against the wall of one of the buildings. I put the helmet on and was soon seeing all the procedures being done. Once all the procedures were complete, I went to go find HE some replacement batteries. I had searched the whole battlefield in the city as I found two new batteries. One was in the old arcade and the other was in a cake shop. Weird places to find batteries. I soon returned to see three IMC troops looking at HE. I looked at my dad's lucky wingman revolver and went in to fight. I had snapped on of their necks as I shot the other two. I then went to replace the batteries for HE. Once that was done, he looked at me as he stood up. "SRS-Vanguard Class Titan HE-9798 ready for combat, pilot." He said as I looked at him.

"Wait, did you just call me pilot?" I asked him.

"Correct. Pilot Jacob Ryan has transferred authorization to you Alex." He said as I looked up at him.

"Alright, let's rock." I said as we went through the procedures and protocols.

End Flashback
Alex POV
I always wanted to be a pilot, but not like this. I wanted to earn my title as pilot. Instead, it was given to me by my father. In his last dying breathes, he had given me his jump-kit and HE. I didn't know what to do from there on. After returning home and breaking the news, my mother broke down into tears as my sister comforted her. I looked at the helmet before placing it on. I was no apart of the Militia, but first I had to get through basic training and I knew that that was gonna be a tough one. After saying my goodbyes, I was off. Now here I am. A student at Beacon and probably a father. That's when I heard the boom come from the stadium as I rushed there. When I got there, though, I saw Grim that looked like Gryphons as well as White Fang members. As of this moment, Beacon was under attack.
