Gumball X Darwin

Confessing

Darwin's POV:

Gumball was already in his room, and I was walking up the stairs to greet him. I was going to confess. I turned the door knob and went in. Nicole, Richard, and Anais were all asleep so we had to keep our volume down.

I sat on the bed beside Gumball, he was  messing with his blanket. "Gumball, can we talk about that thing I wanted to talk about?" I lightly asked looking at him. "Sure." He said resting his blue eyes on me, they were so pretty. "Gumball I like you..." I choked out. He gave me a smile. "Yeah I like you too Dude!" He said swishing his tail as he kneaded the blanket. "N-No Gumball!" I stuttered grabbing his arm.

His ears fell back, and he looked hurt. Tears began to hit my eyes. "Wait what..." he said in a whisper. Sweat was building up on my forehead and I felt myself squeeze his arm. "I...I don't like you like that!!!" I stuttered. I saw tears flood his eyes. "You what?" He gave a sad growl. I buried my head in his chest and cried. "I LOVE YOU GUMBALL!" I screamed through his sweater.

When I looked up, he looked even more hurt than before. I felt myself shiver. "Gumball?" I asked through sobs. "But...what about Penny?..." he cried as he stood up. I walked over and pinned him against the wall, he looked surprised, yet his face red and tears flowing.

"You don't love Penny!"

"Yes I do!"

"Gumball no! You're just telling yourself that because you do like me!"

"I--I like P-Enny!"

"No you don't!!!"

I felt tears run down my face, I was so upset..."Why don't you love me Gumball?!" I sobbed as I fell onto my knees in front of him. "You're the most important thing to me, Gumball!!!" I sobbed even harder, my body shaking. He looked at me in hurt, I saw him bend down.

"Gumball. You're the reason I grew legs." I cried even harder. He looked at me and wrapped his arms around me, trying to comfort me. "D--Ar" was all he could choke out. Gumball's shoulders slumped and he cried..harder and harder. "I-I always th-thought Pe-nny was the one for me." He cried looking at me.

I felt my heart break. Penny. PENNY. I gave a whine and felt myself bristle as her name was said. "I'm s-so stupid!" He laughed through tears. I looked at him in puzzlement. I closed my eyes, trying to think of something to do...this was obviously too much for Gumball to handle.

I felt warm lips pressed to mine. I opened my eyes. Gumball. Gumball. "Gumball!!!" I laughed breaking the kiss. His face turned red and he grabbed my arm and kissed me again, I kissed him back, my heart swelling with love for him. "Sometimes the people you love are in front of you the whole time." He purred gently.

"Darwin, will you go out with me--?" Gumball asked as he wiped his tears away. I wrapped my arms around him and pecked a quick kiss on his cheek. "Yes!" Was my answer.

I felt butterflies when I looked at him, I knew he felt that way too. "Why does your fur puff up?" I asked with a giggle as his hair became a mess. "When I'm happy." He said letting his head rest on top of mine. I gave him a smile and looked out the window, the stars were out, shining, shimmering, like Gumball's eyes.

I closed my eyes and let Gumball's purrs rock me to sleep. Gumball and I against the world, together, forever. I woke up, we must've fell asleep in the middle of the room, there was 10 minutes until we actually had to get up, so I listened to Gumball's snoring and soft purrs.

The alarm went off with a beep, causing Gumball to open his eyes. Instead of his usual moaning and groaning about waking up, he just looked at me, and he smiled. I felt him kiss my lips lightly, I gently kissed him back. I stood up and walked to grab my clothes, "I'm going to get changed!" I told him as I circled back to run a hand through his hair and then leave the room.

I put on my usual clothing and ran a comb through my orange hair. It was a bit tangled, but I got the knots out. My face felt cold because of crying , but my situation ended well. I called for Gumball whom didn't argue and was smiley and got changed. I've never seen him so happy, not even with Penny. I thought happily to myself as I slid down the step railing and leapt off to see Nicole greet me.

"Hi Darwin! I have to leave early for work today, breakfast is on the table!" She said kissing my head as she left. I gave a smile. Richard was sitting with Anais, she was already dressed and she was teaching him how to do a puzzle. "Okay so pick a piece and put it in the missing spot!" She said encouragingly as Richard searched through the pieces.

He held one up. "This one!!!" He happily said trying to fit it on the other piece. "No Dad!" Anais said with a sigh. Richard gave a pouty face and threw his piece down. "It's okay Dad." Anais laughed as she patted his back.

{ 45 Minutes Later... }

I sat at the bus stop, Anais was watching the sky, eyeing the clouds and trying to guess them. "Cumulus..." she murmured. Gumball sat down beside her and was dragging his hands over stones, making a soft noise as he touched them. I couldn't keep my eyes off him, but finally I ripped them away as the bus arrived. Gumball and I sat together, we tried not to do anything noticeable, but I could see his fur poof, so I smoothed it down.

"Thanks Buddy." He said smiling at me. "I love you Gumball." I gently whispered in his ear. His smile grew bigger. "I love you too, Darwin." He whispered back to me, it made me giggle and my stomach started to flutter.
